Who here owns a Mini?

Pressure release?
What is that and how much were you bent over for.
Can’t remember exactly but they replaced the rocker cover gasket at the same time. Fixed the issue though, although I’m still not 100% sure that it was all needed. About £700 if I remember correctly, about half were parts I think. Sounds terrible when I type it but for the most part I trust them. It is what it is and life’s too short to mess around over that amount.

That very low miles for the model year. Mainly short journeys I take it?

Yup.

Going to look at a few electric options tomorrow while the current one is in for repairs. I’ve washed it so that it can go to webuyanycar next door immediately after.

I think my wife is torn between old and new currently. There is a lovely ex demo car available with every single option and a decent price too.

Unsurprisingly the car has an issue due to low miles. Some valve has seized. Hoping a system reset and fluid flush sorts it for £400 vs £1500 for a new part. Or at least fixes it long enough to sell.

Anyway, ex demo 2024 mini incoming. Stunning car. Priced to sell, every option, cooper works body pack. Very nice car. Hopefully more up for short journeys!

The BMW showroom next door was very tempting for myself.

Apparently the Vanos valve has gone on the current mini. £1100 to replace. At least there’s less mechanically to go wrong on an electric car. Can’t wait to get rid of it.

Edit: and only one side of the heater is working! We agreed that can ‘wait’.

Not a fan of the new gen minis. But then I don't really like any new cars coming out these days.

Extended Main Dealer Warranty on any car these days is a must.

I have yet another R53. I think this is my 6th now, but they are becoming harder to find in nice condition and this one has to be a keeper long term as I likely won’t be able to buy another anytime soon. 2005 210 JCW with 41k miles, recently refurbished R90 BBS, has R56 4 pot front calipers, R56 aluminium rear trailing arms, along with various other slight mods. The dash is obviously an acquired taste but given I fitted it I obviously love it :)

The R53 has always been my favourite car. When the R50 was announced I was about 14 and I dreamed of owning one. Over the years I’ve had a JCW 200, 2x 210’s and 2x GP’s. I wish I had kept a GP but that’s life.

That looks lovely

I actually really like that - reminders me of the old dashes you used to get in the original minis.

They keep trying to get me to trade mine in for a new one and I have to say the shape has grown on me now. But the interior is awful. 'vegan leather' and the soft touch interior in the older model was far far superior to the new one. The Dash in the new one needs to die. I would have been happy for the interior to stay the same but add a HUD and make that infotainment screen full size. They really took the cost cutting sword to the interior :(

Vanos solenoid? Which engine is it? If it's the THP, it's a 10min job to replace them.

It was something related to the Vanos, but it must be more complicated since they are now saying Monday. I am hoping early on Monday so we can still take it to be sold before Christmas Eve. I just hope they don’t find another problem. New mini arrives 9am tomorrow!

I’m undecided on the interior. I’d miss the leather on the current car, but I quite like the giant OLED screen that controls everything and it seemed pretty intuitive. It’s pretty clean and spacious inside too. Then again, it’s not a car for me!
