Squirrel, thats exactly the same mod id like to do to mine.
Don't want to decat it due to the noise but do want to get rid of the silence after the decat which has a fault that has caused the weld to break (see pic below), about a 4-5 cm split which i think is tig welded back up will only happen again.

If you don't mind me asking how much did that new pipe section and welding cost, its 65miles from me so not too much factoring in travelling costs against a quality job being done.
Had an absolute mare yesterday, a pot hole round a corner caused my near side front tire to rip off the alloy, needing a new tyre. Call up AA at 1.50pm only to realise the membership is still registered to my old car, £50 later its transferred to new car (or wait 48hours to do it for free - no good)
Ask them to send someone who can replace the tyre as its split , they take the tyre size and say they'll send a tyre specialist out to replace the tire. They send an AA van out who was no help to me as he didnt want to take the tyre(wheel) off due to a "dangerous location" and take to a repair place(evn though i requested a specialist to repair tyre there an then - which they confirmed).
So he leaves time is now 3.45pm and says a new job will be created and to call up in 15 minutes to chase them and see whats happening. Get a call at 4.30 saying a tyre specialist will be with you at 5pm, get another call at 5pm saying they will be between an hour/90 mintues so 6.15pm at the latest.
North London Tires eventually turn up at 6.45pm and it takes another hour to work out (+ with the use of my jack) to get the car up due to being half off the road on a muddy side verge(single track road). Finally finish and leave the scene at 7.45pm!
So only 5hrs 55minutes to fix a broken tyre with a £50 cherry on the top to let AA do a wonderful job (when i could have just called a local tyre place to replace the tyre only hitting me with the callout charge , calling up AA later on and getting the car swapped over on the policy for free.
Would you think I have a pretty good case with the AA of getting that £50 back? The chap who came out first from the AA was very helpful, and said he cant advise me (wink wink) but that I should complain to them saying that they sent the wrong person out to do the job and didnt ask the correct questions when reporting the breakdown to them(single track road, dangerous location etc...)
Also i'd like to be cheeky and use a mahooosive pothole on a junction outside my workplace (you wouldnt beleive the size will post a pic later today or tomorrow) and claim this is where the tyre was ripped off and use the callout paperwork from the tyre company and picture evidence to try and get them to pay for the tyre replacement. Do people generally have a good case against the council with tyres and potholes if there are about 50cmx1m by about 3/4 inches deep?
Long post but was also off work yesterday due to being ill and having to sit 6 hours in my car and not get paid that day + pay £118.60 to get tyre fixed did not make it a pleasent day whatsoever!
