Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Expensive month for me , first tyre comes off the rim so new tyre and fallout charge then *accidentally* drove into a pillar scuffing the rear arch :( waiting back on a few quotes but looking at about 200 odd quick for the fix grr

Will upload some pics to show u how bad it is to gauge whether or not I'm being ripped off! Also need my blowing exhaust fixing arghhhh!

Gotta love to hate it :D

Ouch, that's bad.

Really expensive month for me too, insurance, tax, and the exhaust mod work I had done. All worth it though :)

Loving the car again at the moment, touch wood, it's all fantastic. I just need to slightly lower the front and raise the rear to give it a bit more of a nose down stance, and then I need to get it fully laser aligned, with camber and toe adjustment, as it's a bit lively to drive at the moment with my home made coilover setup :p

Same for me, since getting my 182, I've spent

£1398 Insurance
£130 TAX
£300 Tyres (On Fri)
£100 tracking, air con gas, tyre fitting (On Fri)

£1928 :(

Can't wait to get the tyres & tracking done on Friday though. Should make the car a lot nicer to drive :)

Can someone gimme a quick rundown on the difference between a 172 and 182.

I know the 182 has a more powerful engine but in real world terms is the difference noticable?

Yes, it's 10 better.

Only joking. Some of the differences off the top of my head:

- Different exhaust manifold
- 182 has no spare wheel, due to:
- 182 has twin exhaust pipes which come out of bumper, 172 has hidden exhaust behind bumper
- 182 has cruise control (some earlier 172s didn't have this I think)
- 182 has a 200 cell cat
- Different colour choices, although not much difference

The extra 10 horsepower I think is supposed to come from the manifold, but in reality I doubt it makes much difference.

in reality its circa 6 more bhp and 8 LESS lbft mainly due to the manifold/exhaust design ;) If I was to a get an older generation RS Clio now hedge, I would only be looking at the trophy. For the price it is a great car!

Yeah, the power increase is just from the manifold. The engines are otherwise the same. A lot of people fit 182 manifolds to 172's.

The main differences are in the choices on offer. The 172 was either the standard car, or the cup. The 182 came in both standard and cup, but there was also 2 cup packs you could add to the standard car (suspension and styling), and also the Trophy. There was also a wider range of colours available, and the 182 has different wheels.

In reality, the choice between a 172 and a 182 is pretty much down to your budget, as 172's are about half the price of 182's due to being a few years older.

Why was I under the impression you had a Silver one?

Wish I'd got mine in something other than Silver. Its just boring. Plus, I hate the 172 wheels! The phase 2 172 is the only car in the entire RenaultSport range that doesn't have its own special wheels. They are just 16" versions of old standard Clio alloys :(
