Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I have, and yes, I would echo these sentiments in terms of suspension at least. I think a simple suspension change would go a long way to evening the playing field.

I agree. And so do most other people who drive them, including reviewers.

Unfortunately it seems car companies think that making a 'Sport' model now just means giving it a body kit and some more power (or not even bothering with the power, I'm looking at you Renault Gordini range!). And judging by the number being sold, they seem to be getting away with it.

Its a shame.

The Corsa is more than just that - the VXR has it's own unique shell for a start, steering rack, gearbox etc. is all different too. They got the suspension wrong, but this is far from just dumping a fast engine in a standard car.

Hi guys, my splitter just arrived. Some questions, will I need a ramp to lift the car up to install it? Are 3.5x20mm self tapping screws okay?

Noticed it was advised here.

In other news, I wish I got my 182 in racing blue now :( racing blue + black alloys = sex. Can't really do much with the alloys on a Artic Blue, white turinis look pretty decent though.

The need to jack it up is a practical one. You will struggle to get room to use a screwdriver under the bumper without doing so.

At least yours isn't silver :(

I also wish I had racing blue, although I'd definitely get them with white Turinis if I did. On Arctic Blue I think anthracite Turinis look great, although if I ever get them refurbed I might just do them silver.

Took the car out for the first time in two weeks for a blast tonight! Jesus Crist! Hahaha forgot how powerfull they really are :D :D :D Window down listening to my decatted Miltek and the woooshhh of the airbox, am I sad? LOL

May sound like a massive boy racer here, but I am not promise and treat the road with respect and play by the laws. But seems a bit of a few folk wanted a play! Some TT coupe one with the dual tail pipes, hmmmm must be 4WD loss but they are nothing special! Not as quick as my 182 and a silly idiot in a Corsa VXR! Nice looking cars but not a patch on my nicly modded 182 ;)

Muchas fun tonight. Cannot wait till the summer!! I need to sort the breaks out, get some brembo or the like on there, anybody reccomend some? Have about £600 for it all. So want some serious stopping power something which lets my car down.

People on CS.net tend to recommend:

Brembo HC (or Brembo Max) front discs
OEM Renault rear discs
Ferrodo DS2500 pads
Braided lines

Brembo HC front discs - £90
OEM Renault Rear discs - £100 (they come with the ABS rings and wheel bearings attached)
Ferodo DS2500 front pads - £130 (I have gone for the £90 Performance pads, but have't fitted them yet)
OEM Renault rear pads - £40
Braided Lines - £40
Decent fluid - £30

~£430. This is the recommendation for track use. Any more and your into Cup Racer territory :)

Mine's away getting new pads and disks fitted at the moment, as well as lines and new fluid. Cant wait :)

Waheeey finally finished diagnosing and fixing the bloody xenons on the 182. The previous owner(who must have been a complete ******) did not seat the dust caps on the back of the lamp properly allowing water vaper to get into the headlamp and causing this to happen... i think

photo10c.jpg

I think the water must have caused the metal contacts to corrode and thus shorting causing the plastic to melt around the connector that goes into the ignitor on the xenon. So after ordering a new ignitor + wire from china i managed to get it all fixed eventually!

photo9n.jpg

Because the headlight is a sealed unit i had to snip the old connection off and re wire the new one back on, cue me forgetting which wire goes where so had to use the trusty multimeter on the other xenon to find out which wire goes where with the voltage being supplied from the ballast.

So finally got it working only to find out the ballast is now buggered , it takes the light about 30 seconds to stop flickering and warm up so a ballast is also now on the shopping list, could have bought a new bloody headlight for the buying of all the individual components! :D

On monday its booked into jabbasport to get the hole in the exhaust fixed ...

photo11im.jpg

From recomendations from cliosport + squirrel have decided to go with the cat mod, a 2.5inch straight through pipe replacing the silencer thats buggered welded straight onto the cat itself(will keep the cat as dont want too much noise) , also need a bit of tig welding on the rear silencer as it also blows, my fault completely but we won't go there due to shear embaressment + damange that could have happened :(

That should cost less than £97 depending on labour.

So that leaves the lovely scratch/dent on the nsr arch from me scraping it against a stone pillar a litttttttle hungover, never again, i practically cried when that happened considering i had had the car for 2 weeks! That should cost around £200 to fix not including the wheel which will wait as will be changing to different wheels at some point in the future.

photo12x.jpg

Then theres the incorrectly sized battery blocking the air intake, repair of small scratch on rear bumper which i have no idea where it came from.... We'll get there the end althought having just being made redundant on monday things could be changing rapidly!!

Might be moving back to sunny east sussex (your neck of the woods squirrel, rotherfield) as my flat contract is about to run out and if i cant find another job sharpish moving back in the with the rents will be my only option, head up though, life is love/hate but my lucks about to change soon im sure :D

So I don't 'need' a jack to fit the splitter? It's just helpful?

I just cleaned my car guys, the full works, hosed down, shampooed / waxed , hosed and then used the shammy. Hovered all interior, got the crap out of the wheels etc! Anyway here is the result, sorry for the pictures, the light was going :(

Anyway, now I've had the car insured, taxed, tyres changed, tracking, skoda splitter and pollen filter done (£1620) the next purchase is a good stereo! I want one that I can plug my Ipod in to and one that can read my self made cds (where I can put around 80 tracks on) Any recommendations?

It is helpful unless you have some attachements for say a ratchet, though really you want preferably want to be drilling some small pilot holes for the self tappers to screw into, makes life easier.

I had my bumper off earlier and bought a t20 star socket for removing the screws that hold the bumper on, saved me having a fanny about jacking the car up.

You might get away with it if you can drive onto some wooden blocks to give enough ground clearance, i have also done this in the past when i didnt have the ratchet attachement.

Also you gotta love Arctic Blue, comes up lovely when cleaned and allways looks 10x better in the metal, i wonder how long your stock exhaust will last :P

I'm going to pick up a new exhaust kit on Sunday for £30 :) Standard 182 exhaust, i just need the boxes. Only done 10k miles. Not that bothered about 'upgrading' it to a miltek :)

I would imagine so as many people on csnet seem to "upgrade" to them :P

Braiding the brake lines removes the plastic tube and replaces it with stainless steel braided one that doesnt have any give so will give a more punchy feel on the brakes.

Its considered as a trackday setup so will deal with heat and aggreesive braking a lot more than the standard setup.

Dont forget to add some good quality brake fluid to that ;)

Well my MOT is due on the weekend and took off my wheels the other day to check the break pads and it seems to have a few aftermarket stuff on there not sure what! Blue break lines I have no clue what they are! Also has grooved and drilled disks. The pads are standard 182s! I really want new callipers, what choices do I have?

Becasue I do! :D May aswell sort the breaks out, everything else is upto scratch. Just feel some new callipers are the ticket. Have a very good friend at a good tuning company up here in Leeds, so can get them fitted cheap! Just need to see what I can afford to buy and what will fit the car.

But if they are wayyy overkill I guess that idea is out of the window :)

Did anyone see my questions :p

Posted them and it was on the last post of the previous page :(

Pictures there too! :)

Dunno mate! Mine got ripped off aswell as my undertray and sound proofing! What you get for having it lower :D

You will need a jack on the front side near the wheels on the jacking frame to lift the car up to drill and screw it into place. It can be done if its standard hight but will be harder than not been jacked up!

Are you local to a few garages ask them if you can use the ramp for half hour give them £20 I am more than sure they would let you!

I'll ask the neighbors first :) Any good stereos? I've read that if you want the steering wheel controls to work (which I do) you have to spend shed loads more!

Yeah you need the connect block for the stalk, cost a fair bit mind! Most stereos I have tried or seen stick out like a sore thumb! With how the dash is designed most look pap! You need a thin profile fascia type.
