Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I always thought the opposite was no-no - you had to fit harnesses BEFORE a roll cage rather than NOT fit harness without also fitting a roll cage?
They should go hand in hand, cage without harnesses run the risk of smacking your head on the bars.
Edit: Bars, not cars.
Edit again: Your, not you.
I really should start proof reading what i type

Whereas without harnesses, a magic bunny lifts you clear of the car as the roof implodes on itself?
Try moving in a bucket seat with a 5 point harness, you can't, at all. :p At least with a normal seat & seatbelt you can move forward and side to side.

Well thats simple then, fit a proper strut or harness bar, fit the harnesses properly, and don't roll it?

TBH my heads going through the roof if I roll it regardless. And I'm not likely to spend any more money on my car for quite a while.

While i'm coming across as preaching about the safety of harnesses and cages, i myself would run buckets and harnesses without a cage (until i could afford one) If i roll it im a ****, and im 6'3, im screwed anyway :p

How do you know what a proper harness bar is? The harness bar in that picture was sold as such.

It seems odd to me that you're worried about not having an airbag, but you're not worried about the far worse implications of running harnesses without a rollcage. I'm not trying to tell you what you should do, if you want to do it then fine, I'm just presenting you with the facts :)

The chances of having an accident that triggers the airbag is far more likely than one that rolls the car. Breaking my nose and mashing my face rear ending someone in traffic is far more likely and therefore more concerning to me than rolling my car in such a way my head is going to be crushed.

I got my bullets, and I LOVE them! It looks a bit odd at the moment as they are so shiny and clean, and the rest of the car is dirty, so the colour looks a little off, but you get the idea.

Looking good Squirrel, although I would have got the lettering done the same colour as the wheels.

If I track mine I'm tempted to go a bit mental with bullets and wing mirror colours. I've seen green and orange ones. Any suggestions (Iceberg Silver car)?

Yeah I had contemplated that for a while, however I have silver diamonds, the indicator is clear/white-ish, the centre cap diamonds are silver, and if I ever get my wheels refurbed I'm going to do them silver, so I figured this was future proofing :p

I'm really happy with them though :)

I fitted the ARB this afternoon, it took a while, but it's on and I am SO happy with it. I know people question KTEC coilovers, and the whole time I have had them I have too, as I've never been as confident in the car with them on as I was when I was on cup suspension or Sportlines, but now it feels AMAZING! I am so so so happy I bought it. I can't wait to give it a proper run out tomorrow morning on the way to work.

Considering my front tyres are on the legal limit (need to replace soon), and it's wet out, I was amazed at how planted to the road it felt.

Another exterior shot for the hell of it, as I am very happy with it right now :)

Highly recommended to everyone, buy one!

What kind of development has gone in to these RARBs and what issues did you solve/hope to solve with it?

I've always been a little apprehensive about messing with suspension too much, as you tend to just move problems around rather then fix them without serious work. I have noticed the Clio pushes wide if you overcook turn in, I guess the RARB would help loosen up the back end a bit in this respect.

How much are they? Are they a common mod? (ie. resellable if I'm not happy?)

The bit of trim on the side ribbing strips that has the engone size written on.

So on the 172 and 182s it says 2.0 16v, people often get then coloured differently to standard

I can't answer your questions in detail, however the two bars which people seem to be purchasing are either the Whiteline ARB, or the one from the group buy over on ClioSport.net (the one I have). The only difference is (I am told):

They do the same thing as the whiteline's but have more adjustment and proper rose joints instead of rubber bushes.

I wasn't trying to solve or fix anything when I bought it, but all I had read was positive things about it on CS.net, and in particular Fred@BTM (who you may know is a very respected member on CS.net) said that he rated them very highly...that was enough for me.

They don't seem too common at the moment, purely because it's so hard to get hold of one. If you wanted to sell it I have no doubt you'd be able to sell it on very easily.

The Whiteline ARB is going for about £165-175 or so, but you'll be waiting a while for them. The one I bought was £205, but again unless you buy one now you'll be waiting a while. There may be one left in the group buy, not sure - http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?546304-New-adjustable-rear-ARB-group-buy.

Description of the Whiteline ARB:

Whiteline Anti-Roll Bars for RENAULT CLIO are made in Australia and provide an excellent value upgrade to a cars handling. The bars are often available in adjustable and fixed versions. Adjustable bars where available are the stock item. They provide an excellent way to fine tune the handling of your car especially important if you have other modifications to the car or to simply balance the handling to suit both tyres and driver.

NB the objective is to increase overall grip where possible.

As I said earlier, the whole car just feels more planted to the ground. When going about 60ish, if I went left to right fairly quickly it used to feel a little floaty, to a degree it still down, but it's much more planted now (I keep using that word but I think it's the best way of describing the effects).

I have mine on the middle of the 7 possible adjustment holes. So I could make it stiffer if I wanted! But it seems great as it is.

Does the rear suspension twist that much to make a ARB useful on these then?

I just changed the rear springs on a Clio and the rear beam seemed pretty solid!

I guess it does.

I really don't know enough about the technical stuff to know what it's doing, but I certainly can tell the difference it has made, and I like it. Someone on CS wrote this:

a stiffer rear means more oversteer / less understeer

whether you like the standard balance of the car or not depends on your driving style.

it would be an "improvement" for you if you find your car currently understeering too much

if you're already finding the rear too snappy, then it definitely would not be an improvement, as it would just increase the oversteer

it's very driver specific

Which I think is worth considering.

Lots of positive comments here - http://www.cliosport.net/forum/show...e-Anti-roll-bar/page2&highlight=ream+beam+arb

Nice squirrel! Love your 182!

Have to ask though, have you ever seen any 182's in Arctic Blue with standard wheels that have been painted/glossed white? I would like to see it with white wheels / white bullets / white renault badge!

My wheels are standard atm!

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Also squirrel, what shade of grey are your wheels? They look darker / better than mine!

Thanks dude.

I have seen standard 182 wheels on Arctic Blue, not in person, only in pictures, and it didn't look great to be honest. White seems to work really well on Racing Blue, but not on Arctic Blue (in my opinion).

My wheels should just be the standard anthracite that comes on the Trophy Tunrinis, unless they've been refurbed before I bought them. They do look a little darker than I remember my standard 182 wheels looking.
