Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I believe he has an RS192 exhaust with decat.

I've got a Milltek cat-back (cat still in place), remap, and a JMS induction kit, which I was told was likely to be sapping power. But it's worth it for the noise :D

Nice, not bad power.

Is there anything that can be done to take it nearer the 200 mark?

Throttle bodies and standalone management is what the doctor ordered for ~200bhp.

Just goes to show how well tuned the engine is already.

What else makes more power standard with the same or less capacity? 175bhp NA is pretty good from a 2 litre engine.

K20A at 200bhp, B16B at 185bhp? Both Honda engines with the usual sacrifices :P

K20A in the JDM version of the CTR + DC5 is about 220bhp I think? B18C from a JDM DC2 is 197bhp... all awesome, very impressive engines. F20C in the S2K is 240bhp too I think and that's a 2ltr.

My pals got a Mitsubishi Galant 2.5 v6 NA and that makes 161bhp as standard... that's pretty poor in comparison to both the clio engine and the Honda ones.

The Celica 190 is similar to the Clio in it's power output claims... claims to have 190bhp but when run on dyno's they typically put out between 160 - 170bhp. Doesn't a standard clio only put out about 165 - 170?

Depends what you mean by 'a standard Clio'.

172's are meant to be 169bhp but usually produce mid 160. 182's are 179bhp and produce around mid 170's.

No idea if they have stopped over claiming with the 197 and 200?

Completely stock engine... all stock parts like manifold, intake, exhaust etc.

I know they're meant to do 179bhp, but they seem to output around 165-170 region from what I've been reading on CS?

For a 172 yes. 182's usually make mid 170's. How about you stick yours on some rollers and find out rather than guessing.

(its also worth noting that most mods do either sod all to the power, or can actually lower it.)

The best way for a increase from my limited knowledge is a decat, remap, and matched inlets. Things like induction kits will probably lose you power (but will sound awesome ;))

I'm getting 2 x Hankook V12s fitted tomorrow, yay to having legal tyres again, as the current front tyres are very illegal!!

The 3S-GE made that sort of power back in 1994 from 1998cc then in 2000 200ps from it.

Then there is the 237bhp S2000 engine from 1997cc?

So we've found four engines, two of which were not subject to the stricter emissions regulations the Clio had to meet.

Which puts 175bhp as "pretty good" in my books.

The quote was actually 'damn good' ;)

Wow you changed your tune.

How about the later Clio engine of 197 and then 200? Screws your emission theory up :p

tbh i guess 175bhp is actually alright for a 2.0. I was just comparing it to Honda's B16B (185bhp) and Nissan's SR16VE (175bhp), both 1600cc engines.

Don't make 'em like that anymore:o

Got under mine with some cable ties today and now, for the first time since it was fitted way before I bought it, my exhausts hang (sort of) straight! No more rattling against the bumper!

Ghetto mods are where its at!
