Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Exhaust somewhere? Sounds like it sorting itself when it heats up.

It's not the exhaust.

It only happens when you first move off, not again during the whole journey.

I could drive for 3 hours in it, park up and then return within 2 minutes to the car when the car is still hot and it'd make the noise when I first move off again.

Might be the pads sticking to the disc slightly? So it gives the grunt/groan similar to when braking very lightly. Like when facing down hill and letting the brakes of very slightly so that the car begins the move but the pads are still gripping the discs and it sounds awful.

Jack up the corners and see if the wheels spin freely or not (remember to leave it in gear and take the handbrake off when checking the rears, so you don't go "OMG My rears are totally locked!" like I did :))

Remember to take it out of gear to if you turn it over when on the stands with the wheels off, unlike moi...

I have the same problem when I wake up in the morning.
Mine stays stiff all day

How many others in here need a remap? Could organise a group buy of a single RS tuner and an unlock code each, then flog it on?

RStuner is a bit of a gimmick imo, its universal and cheap, that says it all really. I'll be getting a custom rolling road remap when i get my head work done.

Been offered a 182 for a good price... Though unfortunately this thread has put a damper on my feelings given all the reliability problems here!
Had the cambelt etc done too. Hmm, got a while to decide. I'll give it a think :).

I love the whole zorst n remap innit stuff online. You want a map done on the rollers for your engine with your exhaust. Proper job .

Doesn't make a massive difference does it though? Plus how much is a custom map?

True, but then the much more expensive custom maps are hardly going to give you "OMG 30bhp extraz!" are they. For what it costs (if you buy and sell an RS Tuner on, then it costs just the £40 or so for the unlock code) they are perfectly acceptable.

If yours makes 180+ with a remap, I will eat my hat :)

With a gas flowed head, matched inlets and 421 cams i'll be slightly annoyed if it doesn't break 180 ;)

Edit: And i've had mine dyno'd at 177bhp before any remap :p

I will have had the Clio for one week come tomorrow, tonight whilst going around a left hand bend at about 20mph the front passenger spring snapped.

When I bought the car the dealer gave me a 3 month "customer protect silver" 3rd party warranty. From reading online it seems not many people have had much luck getting them to pay out, so I feel I won't have much luck with them. The springs are £55 each from euro car parts.

My other option is to buy some Eibach sportlines for £150 which will do all 4 corners. I can fit the springs myself.

Do you think I could get anything out of the warranty or is it pretty much useless and I should use this as an opportunity to upgrade?

I believe your statutory rights give you at least 30 days after purchase, regardless of warranty or not. The car has failed for the purpose for which it was designed and sold for. The fact you have a warranty as well, i really can't see the dealer trying to get out of this.

Get back to the dealer.

Bit 'if' you have to go with the Eibachs you will only want to at some stage and well I believe there also cheaper.

Well thats hardly a fair comparison to a £45 RS Tuner remap is it! :)

Talking remaps alone, I doubt a custom one would provide much difference to an RS Tuner one.

Got some new plates for mine :) Pics when I get them fitted.

Well I spoke to the dealer and told them that the OEM replacement is £55 and both would need to be changed at the same time. I asked if they would just give me the cash and I would add the extra to buy the Eibachs and fit them myself and they agreed.

It works out cheaper for them and I get the springs I want so I think it was a good solution. I've now ordered some Eibach sportlines from motorsport world so I'll fit them next week when they arrive.

sounds good mate

Sounds like a very sensible decision made by both parties, nice one.

Alexisonfire - how far are you going to go with engine mods? I keep thinking about the JMS RS2 but then also wonder if spending that kind of money on a 172 is really worth it?
