Well thats hardly a fair comparison to a £45 RS Tuner remap is it!
Talking remaps alone, I doubt a custom one would provide much difference to an RS Tuner one.
Got some new plates for mine Pics when I get them fitted.
Hehe, i wasn't trying to compare, more a hint of what i want getting done to mine

The RS Tuner really doesn't offer much as a performance upgrade, its more there to make the car run better after modifications, the ECU can only adapt so much. I could be completely wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me if they have a few files on the pc desktop up at rstuner HQ, labeled induction.zip, exhaustandinduction.zip etc. When its really not that simple. A good example of this, take mine and SS's cars. Both 182's, his had a rebuilt engine, more engine work done and was remapped via an RS tuner. Yet mine ran higher figures at the RR despite mine running like a sack of **** and had a leaking exhaust. Due to the remap though, his power curve was considerably better than mine. A live RR map will do the same, but WILL increase performance because its making tiny adjustments for the exact modifications made.
Well I spoke to the dealer and told them that the OEM replacement is £55 and both would need to be changed at the same time. I asked if they would just give me the cash and I would add the extra to buy the Eibachs and fit them myself and they agreed.
It works out cheaper for them and I get the springs I want so I think it was a good solution. I've now ordered some Eibach sportlines from motorsport world so I'll fit them next week when they arrive.
Sensible decision from the garage, and a bonus for yourself, win win!
Alexisonfire - how far are you going to go with engine mods? I keep thinking about the JMS RS2 but then also wonder if spending that kind of money on a 172 is really worth it?
Recently been thinking about changing the 182 for something else, but every time i drive it, i decided against it. In 1-2 years i could be earning double what i do now, and in 5 years time earning silly money. So ideal situation would be to take the clio as far as i could for track use, and get something like an M3 for normal driving/commuting. The only question to ask when modifying a car, is, is it worth it too you? Not to the car. Spending 4k on a 1k car might seem silly to some, but if its worth it too you, thats all that matters. Ideally i want to get a gas flowed head, high lift cams, forged internals and FI, should be good for 380-400bhp/tonne.
After driving some more luxurious cruising barges at work this week it's made me realise just how fun a car the 182 is to drive and also how involving it is. The feed back and amount you can feel through the car is fantastic.
If they made them with the quality & comfort of a Mercedes or Saab we'd have even more of a winner.
