Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Added it all up, and once i replace the front seats with the buckets i'm getting i would have got rid of 100kg~ of weight, taking it to quite a bit less than 1 tonne. woot! Now to get the engine to 200bhp...

I have a problem with my car, it's a 2003 clio 1.2 16v (I know it's not a Renaultsport, but I thought it would be best to post in here as it's full of clio owners)

The problem is basically the car feels really sluggish, I know it's a 1.2 so it won't exactly be quick but it feels as if something is dragging. I've checked the tyre pressures and they seem to be okay (tyres still look quite flat though)

I have a feeling that it might be the handbrake still slightly holding. To park on my mates hill the handbrake would have to be quite high up, and now it's at the stage where unless the handbrake is at the top of it's travel it won't hold at all, It could be a couple of MM down and the car will roll down the hill, which is worrying.

It's very obvious when pulling away, I'm having to rev up to just under 2k to pull away, and then rev up to 4.5k before going into second otherwise it just dies.

It's also quite obvious when changing gear, after driving for a while I let the revs build up in second to 5.5k and it was hardly moving, then when I changed into 3rd the car seemed to be dragging again.

I think i've basically answered my own question posting this, but opinions would be welcome.

Are your rear tyres wearing pretty quick?

No they're fine. I had the geometry tested about a month ago and they said the tracking was fine, but from looking at the car straight on there definately looks like some negative camber going on.

The rear tyres used to be on the front, but they were swapped over about a month ago when I got a flat, so the fronts have tons of tread left and the rears not so much, not sure if that would make the difference?

Not sure if it's poor brakes, or trying to get use to there isn't much servo assist (lack of pedal feel compared to the other standard clio's I've drive). I have redstuff pads, and Brembo Max Grooved Disc's. They are very noisy under heavy braking.

I read that the standard brake lines are internally braided?

What you've heard is probably in relation to the rear rubber hose, which is a much harder, high pressure hose than standard brake lines as the caliper does not move, but rather the rear beam does.

This is why rear braided lines are fitted in place of the flimsy rubber hose between the car and the rear beam.

The standard hoses are not in any way braided, and I can confirm that braided lines absolutely transformed braking feel.

Just dropped the car down essex for the re-map and the miltek. Will be picking it up in a few hours, will give it a major clean and provide pics!

Was averaging 42MPG on the way to Essex

So braided lines are worth it for road use then?

Nice Gustov, let us know if you notice a difference in power.

Mike autotests his Clio so is likely to notice the difference. You would be hard pushed to feel any difference in usual road use (braided lines are designed to improve feel under heavy braking and when the fluid heats up, 2 things that rarely happen under normal road use). I have got braided lines on mine, and have only so far noticed an improvement while hooning it up/down Cheddar Gorge. Going on track next month so will get a better idea then.
