Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Bought a replacement foglight from someone on CS, it's turned out to be the wrong side! The guy that bought the other one has just PM'd me as he got the wrong one too, may have to meet up and exchange with him!

My car feels floaty at the moment too, sort of like the rear wants to swing out and the car wobbles a lot when steering sharply on the move. It tram lines all over the place too which it never used to do (much anyway). I was hoping the powerflex ARB bushes I'd fitted would solve it as the originals were cracked and old but they didn't do a lot. I might get my wheel alignment looked at soon and see if it sorts it. Failing that I think I may need new rear shocks as I think they're buggered. Could do with taking them off to properly look at them but I can't be bothered :p

The baffle is rattling in my Milltek exhaust which is rather annoying to say the least. Any easy fixes? or is it new exhaust time?

It has a lifetime warranty, but it's only for the original purchaser :(

Ah, good shout CaptainFail, forgot about rear shocks. I had one go and it made the car a bit twitchy and unsteady in the corners.

My car seems to sway side to side went straightening up out of corners and seems floaty on the way into them. It certainly doesn't feel right! I'll whip the shocks off and check the rear springs when I'm back off holiday and see what the damage is. I've really only done the bounce test on the rear so far. The rear shocks aren't all that expensive either, be £89 for both rears according to Wests Renault on CS.net.

Yeah I paid £99 for 2. It was easy to see my problem shock as it looked 'wet', which was the grease leaking from the top and running down it.

Hey guys,

Got my MOT tomorrow. Can anyone tell me if I will fail it if I leave the 3/4 plates on?

In other news, got my Renault Sport mats today, well worth it!

I wouldn't bet on it failing with the 3/4 - it depends how much hassle it is for you to change for a proper sized plate, as to whether it's worth the risk.

If you have a proper plate perhaps you could just use some elastic bands to hold it on top of the 3/4?

Mine are held on by velcro coins, so they can be swapped easily.

Uh, what?

A legal forward facing number plate is a requirement of the MOT test. A 3/4 plate is not legal. A 3/4 forward facing plate will therefore fail an MOT*.

*assuming the MOT test is performed properly, and the tester isnt 'my MOT guy'.

Are you having problems fitting the wheels? Something I will need to look out for when I come to buying some.

Also, re the rear shocks. As I posted earlier in the thread I currently have a leaking rear shock and it does make the car twitchy, feels like the back is always stepping out, especially in the wet. I'm fitting my replacements tomorrow so ill report back on the improvement they make.

It sure is illegal, but whether that is picked up on at MOT, or whether the tester cares enough is another matter.

I too could do with some rear shocks in the near future (one is leaking) - I had been holding out for some fancy suspension :(

If i went for an MOT and the tester failed to pick up on something as obvious as an illegal plate, i would be seriously concerned about their ability to pick up on other, potentially dangerous faults.
