Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I fitted some speakers I had laying around to the Clio today. It was a pretty visionary move initially - they sounded better and were slightly lighter than the OEM items.

Then I got bored and chucked a sub in the boot as well :D

Set up correctly, it actually sounds rather good :o

Worth the weight increase though? I've had a after-market Sony head unit fitted (kept my steering wheel controls) and ordered some Renault Sport mats.

The only thing I can even think about doing now is the steering wheel re-trim.

What I've done

Renault Sport Mats £55
Sony head unit and lead £107
Miltek Exhaust + Remap £630
Wheels £600
Eibach Sportlines £150
Renault Sport Badge £40
F1 sticker £4
Bullets re-sprayed £35
Splitter £20
Number plate £15

£1656

It's quite a weighty dual sub thing - probably around 25kg. I might see if I can sell/swap it with a chav for something smaller.

I won't notice the difference.

Can say i ever got bored at the straight on bedford, and thats pretty long.

The 182 is running lovely atm, hopefully stripping the rest of the car today and getting the sparco in. Car just pulls and pulls in any gear. Video from a sunday rag

Jesus, what speeds are you hitting on the straight? Must be at least 90.

You will be fitting tints and 17" wheels next!

The 172/182 has very good brakes from standard despite not having 4 pots, you just have to stomp down on them. Just be aware, for those with no rear seats + spare wheel, if you stand on the brakes, be ready to catch the backend, (even braking in a straight line if the road is bumpy). The back goes incredible light and it likes to skit about.

The offtopic thread has been closed, sad face. So i will share my little humble collection of tools and bits with you guys instead :D Got most of everything i want, just an impact gun and ramps to go!

I think the stock brakes are absolutely terrible tbh, they really let down the car.

Varies on what people want, I don't know much about it tbh (have a look on CS tbh), but I've got Brembo Discs which are a big step up on their own, along with braided lines and Ferrodo DS2500 pads. Altogether I think it came to about £270 or so? Well worth it though.

I (and my passenger at the time) can confirm this is the case, made worse if your braking hard while turning.

:)

I don't think there crap, but I did have a scary moment braking once. Mind you there was a Golf Gti braking along side of me and I out broke him.

To be fair if he never slammed on his brakes, I would've had no reason to slam mine on idiot!

OEM setup is absolutely fine with the addition of braided lines. I've yet to have my cheapo Mintex pads fade on me.

In other news; I had a coach destroy my wing mirror this evening - probably karma for being so chavvy.

I do!

An aftermarket setup is 100x better than OEM. If I had £300 and wanted to do some mods DS2500's+HC's+Braided lines would be top of my list.

I'd probably go so far to say that the OEM setup is probably a little dangerous as it underperforms in comparison to the power.

£300 to change break pads / disks and calipers?

Hi Earl!

£300 to change break pads / disks and calipers?

£90 for Brembo HC front disks
£40 for braided lines
£130 for DS2500 front pads
£10 for rear Renault/Mintex pads
£100 for rear Renault disks (inc bearings and ABS rings)
£20 for some higher rated fluid

There no point in upgrading the rear brakes as they do very little, so just use the stock Renault parts for those. Pick and choose from the above list depending on what actually needs replacing.

My front discs were fairly new, so I only did rear disks and pads, front pads and braided lines with new fluid.
