Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Owners of BMW 7 Series / 5 Series etc etc would say that it isnt possible to live with a clio 182 on the motorway. The lack of huge leather seats and climate control means its simply NOT possible ....

;)

A non cup/trophy 172/182 does indeed have climate control. However its not dual zone which is vital these days ;)

In my opinion the 172/182 desperately needs a 6th gear to drop the revs right down at motorway speeds. 70 in 5th, its just too eager to go again, blip the throttle slightly and your speed increases far too easy as well as being a lot noiser than it should really be.

However i did 400miles going to Cambridge and back in a day and didn't find the car too bad at all. Turned the radio up to overcome the engine noise, seats are pretty comfy so all was good. Returned over 40mpg average and that includes trying to keep up with my mate on his newly acquired Honda fireblade that we had just picked up.

Well, I don't own one but am intrigued by the fact that so many people seem to like them.

What are the downsides of these cars? Noisy on the motorway? Dodgy build? Rattly trim?

Downside is it's a small french hatch so has most of the usual traits, however they aren't that bad in all honesty. But on the flip side, it has all the usual traits of a small french hot hatch :p So it's nippy, handles well and it cheap to buy :)

Have done over 50k in mine and it's been fine :)

I've fitted a diesel gearbox to my F4R, which means it sits at 2800rpm @ 70gps.

It means to overtake quickly, you need to drop a cog... but to gently climb its fine. the mk1 is a lot lighter though

Wifes needs a re-gas i reckon. Anyone tried those DIY kits from Halfords?

How much are they - about £35? It's worth ringing around some local places that will be able to do it for that sort of price. Kwik-fit charge £45 I think

Has anyone managed to get decent insurance at 19 on one of these. I really like the 172 but insurance is proving a bit of a pain.

I have 2 years NCB
