Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Some guys from the clio club have relocated the battery to the boot and then use a phase 1 airbox + ITG filter + CAF which I think is the best option in terms of cost and performance.

thanks all

nah i dont want to do much to mine, just thought i would replace the filter (when it needs to be changed) to an aftermarket one to make it sound better, i like it standard, but i think a bit more roar would go down really well

id rather save the money on mods for a faster car (i moded my nissan 200sx and you never get the price u paid on mods back)

Remap, exhaust and panel filter is probably as much as i'd do. Tuning them gets expensive after that. You'll need to do the orignal exhaust in due course anyway when it rots through.

thanks for that

im interested in knowing more from what u just said, for example, what does a remap do ? is that all u need to do a remap and that i guess will increase BHP?

Get an RS Tuner, easy way to remap the cars yourself. I did mine then sold the unit on. Map worked out about 30 quid.

Yes - cannot remember the figure but it's around 9 at the fly. I think that was a 172 Cup.

On the other hand I RS'tunered mine and it made no real difference to the top end power, changed it a very little amount through the range but it's negligible. Just looking now at the graphs and the standard map gave less engine power, but a higher corrected figure? It did stick the torque curve up a little.

That conclusion was from running at one of the RR days first with the RS Tuner map, then later on when everyone had finished and went back to the pub I went back on with the standard map. The standard map even gave an ever so slightly higher power reading, however the chap at Powerstation said it's probably no different as certain conditions won't be the same as earlier.

A pretty crude method of testing but still if there was a huge gain to be had then this should have showed it up. I've got before and after graphs somewhere as well if needed.

The car does run smoother now and doesn't feel too flat anywhere.

Happy I've got it as it feels a little more lively, but really doubt that it gives such an increase as people believe.

Maybe Henk's custom maps are a different story though.

As for mods, personally unless you want to start spending it's a case of filter, exhaust, matched inlets and remap.

Worth the money I'd say.

I wouldn't say the rstuner 98ron map makes a dramatic difference to the performance but it definetly does improve the driveability of it. I had a maxogen, exhaust and rstuner remap and although not night and day it did make a nice difference pretty much removed the 5k "kick" but improved the torque from 3-5krpm.

I'm gonna be taking my 182 in for a Cam Belt change and was wondering if there are any other small things I should get them to change whilst they have the front of the car off.

Having a quick scout around it seems asking for a replacement water pump is a good move, is there anything else?

Also I had my aux belt replaced about 6 months ago, will I need this replacing when they do the cam belt (slacken the aux belt to get to the cam belt?). Since I only had this replaced 6 months ago will renault fork out the cost of the new aux belt?

Turbo ;)

I picked up my 182 at the weekend and apart from driving it home, haven't really had the chance to go out in it properly, what with this crap weather :p but so far really enjoying it. Managed to get a quick detail in on sunday before the rain so it's looking pretty good.

I've seen a lot of people talk about this RSTuner, I was thinking of getting a remap done, was originally looking at k-tec for it but this does seem to be the cheapest way to do it. What do you guys think?

I've only got a decat on so far, although it wasn't through choice :p When I picked the car up, I thought the guy that sold me it had said it had the decat on the car and the standard cat was in the box in the boot. So I get the car home and the car was making a funny buzzing sound, from what I thought was the decat. I had it in my head this was the normal sound the decat produced, so I decided I don't like this sound and go get it swapped for the standard cat. I turn up at the garage and explain all this to the guy, so he goes off to change it. He looks puzzled at the underside of my car, turns out it was the cat that was on, but there was a massive hole in it. So heres me thinking that it was the decat casuing the crappy sound. He swaps them over and currently loving the sound the decat is producing. The problem is I'll need to look at getting a sports cat come MOT time, but that's not for a while yet, thankfully. I'll hopefully get a few other things done in the near future, new exhaust, obviously the cat and uprate the standard brakes, which I'm not overly impressed with.

I've also signed up on cliosport, so will hopefully get the most out of my car :)

Anyway enough of talking, here's some pics
