Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Really? I've always heard that the standard brakes are great.

Definitely no need for a bigger brake conversion.

If you are driving it on the road then standard is fine. Obviously if your going on track then you will want better pads and discs and fluid and lines, but then you would be doing that on any car.

What are your plans, JamesM?

Out of interest do clio owners simply upgrade disks and pads when looking at the brakes or do they tend to go for bigger brake conversions? Is the standard setup quite good to begin with?

Pretty ****, IMO. But no need for a 'big' brake upgrade.

No plans Skeeter, I don't even own a clio.

I follow this thread as there's some good cars in here and people obviously use them as they are meant to be used and just wondered when it came to brakes, what most people do.

Shouldn't need to change the brakes until you go 250bhp +.

OEM pads and discs are fine for daily use.

Fast road driving you would upgrade to something like oem/brembo discs with ebc yellow/ds2500 pads.

Track stuff, brembo HC discs, ds2500/ds3000/RC5+ pads (although i noticed fade with ds2500), braided lines and a decent dot4 fluid (super blue)

Race cars, same as track apart from RC6/PF97 pads

New ball joints have turned up!

And finally a new numberplate, should make quite a nice aesthetic change!

Need vidoes of flames, pops and bangs, stat!

My Fiesta pops and bangs like a good 'un, so childish but addictive, so I know how much fun you'll be having now with it, but flames, goodness :D

So, had my car serviced and health check today. Turns out its pretty good, not perfect though. The timing is the tiniest bit out on the inlet and there's a tiny bit of play in the dephaser. It's also got the rocker cover leak:o

The combination basically means £600 for mick at some point within the next 6 months.

I found out I was definitely looking at the car with rose tinted specs on though as all the brakes are shot, new discs and pads all round:mad:

I've got grooved discs and green stuff pads on the front at the minute, backs are standard.
I've got £300 to blow on the car, including brakes. Bearing in mind the likelihood of me being on track this year is fairly slim, what would you do? Backs will be staying OEM, just not sure it's worth spending a lot on pads now, if I could buy other stuff that would make more of a difference to road driving. (OEM comes in at roughly £175 for parts, £260 for carbone lorraine pads/ds2500s on the front)

Bit stuck

Regardless of what pads you put on the front, get Brembo HC discs. They are £30 for a pair and better than OEM.

For pads on the road standard is fine. DS2500's will probably squeal a bit which is annoying if its only ever used on the road.

Currently looking at getting a 182 with cup packs. If anyone knows of any good ones selling it would be much appreciated. Just looking at adverts there are so many dogs!

Looking for maximum of 65k miles, black or dark blue with cup packs and recent cambelt change with service history.

Got 3.5-4k absolute max to play with. Hope something decent comes up soon...

I wouldnt let that put you off if thats all thats wrong with it! Soon get it straightened up, the tailpipe piece might be a separate item (it is on my Clio 200).
