Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Just a quick question what tyres does everyone run? Just been looking at prices and have been offered a few different quotes.

Currently have pirellis on the car, One place was offering 132 for a pair of their best at that size continental i think?

Also if anyone has any good cleaning guides on hand that would be wonderful. :)

Nice weather so a good chance to get it looking nice :)

Hankook V12s all round, softer than the Michelins but I find them better for everyday driving. Look in the car cleaning thread for ideas!

I'm running Continental Sport Contact 3s all round on my 172. Quite a soft sidewall which I'm not too sure about as I prefer a stiffer sidewall but they are very grippy! Upping the tyre pressure a little seems to have helped reduce the floppy sidewall feeling though!

Completely off topic, I'll be doing my first track day soon at Donington! Can't wait :D

Talking of Donington trackdays, I have a mate with a 182 who is coming to the OCUK track day on the 30th.

The car is currently standard and I said to my mate I'd find out what he needs. So...

What are the minimum requirements for someone doing their first trackday in a 182? I guess decent pads with good fluid is a start?

DS2500s? EBCs? What about disks?

He is currently running PE2s.

Thanks

They were DS Performance cos I cheaped out and didn't go for the 2500's.

After I had one fail at 120mph, I've moved to DS2500's :D.

Decent fluid, pads and maybe braided lines are the only things I would have on the 'must have' list for a track day in a Clio. Fading braking will limit your runs, whereas every other upgrade is just to improve stuff that's already there.

I've done a track day on PE2's too, and they were fine.

I'm going on the 30th too, it seems there are a lot of Renault sports going to it judging by the attendance list!

My car is completely standard as far as brakes and suspension goes. I was going to get some better front pads but for now I think I'll just see how I get on with my current ones. Donington doesn't look like it'll be too harsh on brakes so it should be fine (I hope!). If I do another track day however I'll get better pads, braided lines and fresh brake fluid!

Any track is hard on brakes. You will overheat standard ones. Doningon is certainly not a gentle track on the brakes.

I would reccomend upgrading the brakes before the 30th. Otherwise ou may end you day before lunch due to dead brakes.

Fresh brake fluid with a good boiling point is a given You don't want to boil the fluid.

Been waiting for some Brembo HC's for ages, there's been no stock for yonks as the factory has been closed.

G 172 on CSnet sorted me out with some this morning that are already painted at the factory. If you've seen the brakes guide on CS they're painted to help reduce corrosion and look slightly better I guess too. For £5 more (total £50 delivered next day for the pair) can't complain!

Finally fitted the RS192 on Laura's Clio today, what a total pitta of a job. The fitment was terrible, it took me about 3 hours just to get it looking half decent! It's on now, and fitted the Prima racing mounts too so hopefully that's the end of worrying about it all falling off!

Retrimmed wheel is on its way! Yay!

It was supposed to have a silver centre band and the top but after all the hassle and problems and getting to the point where I thought I'd lost my money altogether, I'm not going to complain.

Now I just need to work out how to fit it :o
