Who here owns a Renaultsport?

My carbone lorraines squeal like hell, also got some judder but I'm not sure if thats a caliper refresh needed. If it is, might rebuild them myself and paint them while I'm at it.

DS2500 shouldn't squeel unless they are cold/need changing...how old are they?

They've been on the car for a week, they seem to squeal when I've warmed them up a bit too but only at slow speeds it seems. Could it be that I've not filed enough material off the pads to get them to fit and they are sitting too tight in the calipers? They also have copper grease on the backs too...

Just had the track rod ends done. Also, there's a little oil on the shocks, but I think they were being a bit petty, cleaned them up and will enter it somewhere else.

Pads also had half their life in them and I had an advisory for them! Changed the pads though, wondering if I'll be wishing I spent more on decent pads - how long until they feel 'normal'?

Yeah I was chasing your mate's 182 as I gained confidence in my car in the afternoon sessions, there were a few other Clios too! :)

I've had my car's wheel alignment and wheel balancing looked at and the car feels much better. I'm yet to see if the car still gets wheel judder when braking from 95mph though! I'm getting a lot of brake squeel at low speeds with my DS2500s, does anyone else have this?

Also has anyone seen the Cooksport lowering springs on CS.net? They look like a bargain, I'm quite tempted to get some as they are a lot cheaper than Sportlines...

Plenty of clips there yeah. Think yours is on a video I posted in the thread ?

Well, having been told by Garage 1 that they hadn't put it through an MOT but it was going to fail on:

Both front shocks
NS track rod end
CV Boot clips

I bought shocks, track rod ends and redid the CV boots.

Realised the shocks weren't that bad, tiny bit of oil, and cleaned them up.

Entered it for an MOT elsewhere, and Garage 2 bill me for £275 for the following:

NS front tyre (advisory at previous place)
NS ball joint
Exhaust was blowing (news to me - apparently a small hole where the bracket had made contact with the exhaust) so it needs welding
Emissions failed. (how this is to be resolved I have no idea.)

So, the shocks are being returned, but in total, this service and MOT has cost me about £470...

How do you go about stopping a caliper binding?

I was advised of this in February last year during a service where they greased the carrier sliders. At my MOT in September I was advised of this again and despite new discs, pads & fluid 1.5 months ago the front left is still binding, intermittently causing a squeak everytime the wheel rotates at low speed without any pressure on the brakes.

They greased the sliders recently again recently but seems to be a reoccuring problem.

I'm going to get mine refurbished. You can buy kits with all the rubber seals in them and then just need to get someone to strip them down, clean them all out, and then rebuild them using the new rubber seals.

Piston is seizing in the main bore so the sliders are a red herring.

Ahh right, makes sense.

Might just look into getting a caliper from a broken car off CS.

Thanks.

I think I might need dephaser doing next year, possibly along with belts. It's going to be an expensive one sadly :(

Yeh mines been making a ticking noise from that area fior the last few months now but was waiting for my next service.

I hope it is the dephaser anyway, I asked him to have a look for me if not so could end up paying even more!

Got a bit of money together to spend on the 182 I'm just having a hard time deciding what to buy.

Got about £200, so looking at it I have a few options.

Cooksport or eibach springs
Whiteline RARB
RS Tuner

I would put brake lines on there but I'm leaving them as an option for a christmas present.
What would everyone do? Only mods I currently have are Miltek Cat-back and Carbone Lorraine RC5 + brembo hc.

Cost on insurance won't be an issue as mods are free to add with brentacre.

What are you planning on doing with it? Track? The ARB would get my vote.

I wouldnt do the springs if you still drive it daily. The Sportlines on mine would drive me insane if I had to commute in it.

I'd go for the ARB, unless you can get hold of an RS Tuner easily.

Buying new then selling it on would be fairly easy. I reckon thats the way to go, and look at the RARB next year. Maybe have a suspension refresh at the same time.
