Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Thinking of buying the k-tec induction kit for my 225 as I'm getting bored of how quiet it is at the moment. The gains look fairly decent judging by what they say on their website (up to 13bhp and 13lbs/ft on a standard car). £180 though...

£180 is a lot if you just want some noise. A cone filter, or maybe even just removing the CAF pipe, will be much cheaper ways of making is sound louder.

I swear I've heard of an airbox mod on those CaptainFail, probably on Meganesport.

Yeah I've read about it on Meganesport.net. It's basically just cutting a massive chunk out of the side of the air box and ripping some sound deadening out. Not sure I fancy doing that to mine to be honest.

It is a fair amount of cash for the kit but it will give me some more noise and most likely a couple more bhp. I plan on getting this car remapped in the future too so I think a good quality induction kit will help maximise the power output :D

I've got some interest in my car which is good. Someone down in Bournemouth looking to buy it for his 19 year old son. The insurance will be ridiculous for him but they seem keen and will hopefully be viewing it this weekend. It'll be great if they see it, like it, and buy it there and then.

Am I right in saying that the only safe way to sell it on the spot would be to accept cash, or take them into town (which is nearby) and get them to deposit straight into my account? What do you think?

For that sort of amount I would take a cash deposit if they're coming back for it. Write out a receipt stating that deposit taken, full balance to be paid within 30 days.

If they're buying it there and then, cash in full, again write out a receipt saying sold as seen with no form of warranty or return. Price, date, vin, reg, signed by both.

Sound good to me. The cars I bought/sold were on the base of seen it/liked it, went to bank to take cash out and paid.
Simple and straightforward, risk free as well.

A duplicate receipt for each party would be nice but not something you should insist on.

As for the warranty bit, all private sales are sold as seen by default and it's fairly common sense for everybody. As long as you are not hiding faults that you are aware of there really isn't anything that you would be responsible for.

So sorted my missfire out! Guess what the culprit was?

Booked in @ Diamond Motors for mid Feb before my Llandow trackday for the works, Cambelt kit + Aux belt kit + Dephaser, Oil change + filter and reseal my rocker cover. More money spent :( No way was I going to take it on track though when the Aux belt at least needed doing, and the Dephaser was starting to get noisy anyhow.

I used to be with them, but now with Adrian Flux and Markerstudy i think

i paid £430 on my last renewal
i have no accidents in 5 years, 5 years NCB i think i have, aged 34

I got sky insurance to match the quote adrian flux gave me :D They wanted £50-£100 for track day cover (per track day), which is included for free in my policy with sky, this was the decision maker for me.

I had a cat b write off in 2011 (non fault), 4 years ncb, 27 and 7 points.

My car is sold. The guy didn't want me to get the work done that it was booked in for tomorrow and asked for the amount of money it would have cost to do the work (about £400) off the price instead, so I said yes. Saves the hassle of doing the work and makes no difference to the money I get for it.

So, it's being picked up this weekend. Sold for £2,850. Probably could/should have got more of it but I just want it gone now so I can put it in the moving fund.

RS Tuner sorted today, finally got it mapped.

I won't repeat the usual, but best thing I've done to the car yet to be honest.

Checked the steering rack bushes the other day, reckon their fine. I reckon I need new topmounts though. Any one got any idea how much standards for a pair are? Umming and ahhing about solids but also looking at 2 new tyres. Along with the cambelt and coilpack i'll be creeping on a grand. Argh.

So looking at tyres. Every "normal" tyre place i search on has my clio down as 195/45/16 80V
However the default size if I search on google is 205/45.

Currently have 205s all round. 195s however on camskill are a quite a bit less. How much is would this affect handling? After all I only need 2 so just doesn't seem right.

Yeah the standard size on Ph2 172s was 195/45/16. It was the 182 that increased to 205. Makes no difference though.

Ph1 172's had 195/50/15 so swapping to 15's on any Mk2 Clio RS is a straight swap. Handling wise it makes pretty much no difference, but the reduction in weight from the stock 172 or 182 wheels (especially the god aweful 172 5 spokes that weight half a tonne each) make it feel nippier and sharper to turn. Putting 15's on does make it look like its on stilts though, so you will want to lower it.

Oh and Graham, Mick and I both have PE2s fitted to our cars at the moment and both impressed with them.

PE2s are great. I have 1 on at the moment :D hence wanting to get them sorted before Llandow. I'm tempted to get p zero neros like i have on the front, but in the sightly smaller size. If i could afford to get some OZ f1s I probably would to be honest, but the resaleability of cup wheels is attrocious so can't see me covering any costs!

Skeeter - long term goal is 15s but not enough pennies before the trackday when I'm doing cambelt etc :(

Bought two tyres for my Megane earlier this week as my current rears are close to the wear markers and have light cracks in the sidewalls. After a bit of reading I decided to buy some Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas (225/40/18). They seem to get great reviews and the tread pattern is a bit out of the norm so they look pretty awesome too. Hoping to get them fitted this weekend.

I've also bought loads of new car cleaning bits too so I think an epic wash/clay and wax session is in order too. It looks terrible at the moment, almost looks grey at the moment due to the salty roads etc.

Expect some pictures on Sunday chaps. ;)

So sorted my missfire out! Guess what the culprit was?

So are you gonna tell us what it was?! :D

My misfire came and went by itself. But I still sometimes get a flashing EML on idle when it's cold

Tempted to replace the coil pack to see if that helps. It's deffo not an injector as the only fault code is for the O2 sensor - which isn't broken as I replaced it already.
