Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Small update from my small time of ownership so far. I love the thing, I haven't had so much enjoyment out of a car in a long time, problem is its making me spend money. Some of you may remember I had the scorpion exhaust on it, its too loud and looks stupid so I stuck an order in with KTEC this week for : KTEC Ultra silent Cat back, KTEC Full Engine Mount Kit, ITG Panel Filter, Brembo Max Grove Discs to go with my Red Stuff pads and a Whiteline ARB Kit. Spent a small fortune but this car will also be on track. Engine mounts were due to my mounts being shot.

Also my wheels are finally done with my tyres! Piccy:

A new weekend toy :) so ive joined the club. Clio 197 Full fat version in Albi Blue. Some slight mods already as ive painted the calipers red and fitted some new bulbs all through the exterior and interior to a nice white (Bumper off job to change lights !?!) and a K&N air filter.

Pretty pleased with this as I didnt pay much at all and it handles like a go-cart and is pretty nippy. Gave it a full wash, snow foam, clay, SRP and wax so its looking pretty nice for a 6 year old car.

My car lasted all of two days with the new wheels before damage. Some utter moron has caught the side of my car damaging the rubbing strip and paint on the wheel, then drove off!!!!!!

Swapped my 17" stock wheels with the awful elastic band tyres for 16" (OZ Superturismo, refurbished in the stock anthracite). Much better ride and the size suits the car better IMO.

Brembo discs ebc red stuff pads
White line arb
Itg foam filter
Eibach camber bolts
0.5 degree rear shims

Can't wait to get it all fitted

Painful day today. The "common" issues of high level brake light failing AND o/s/r abs sensor failing within 2 days of each other.

Here is the kicker £53 for the light.....o and because Renault have changed the connector that will be another £26 please. Damn Trophy/V6 spoilers.

Best price on an ABS sensor... £134. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.

These prices are with Cliosport discount traders. Add another £20 to get what I was quoted from the specialist, saving myself a little bit.

So my air con is absolutely in rubbish in my 200 and as it's only 7 months old I took it to Renault to try and diagnose a problem. They couldn't find anything wrong with it, and I've been told by the managing director who drives a 200 too, that "the air on in mine isn't very good to be honest".

I'm rather annoyed at this. I've personally tested the temperature at the vents and it sits exactly the same as my parents C Class and my girlfriends Aygo. So the temperature isn't the problem. It just feels as though it hasn't got sufficeint power at the vents to "push" it around the cabin.

I've been out in the car with different people at different times of the day and they all agree it doesn't get cold enough, only taking "the edge" off this heat. The C Class and Aygo on the other hand get so cold you've got to turn them down a little.

Anyone elses 200 blowing lovely cold air con? Or are they a rubbish system?

Guys, may go look at this over the weekend:

Any thoughts, what do I look out for etc? Do they come with aircon? I know nothing...

Looks like a tidy motor and has the sought after cup packs + the front splitter is still in one piece! (£130 at Renault).

Also had the big expensive cambelt/aux belt job done last year which is good. The cambelt change interval is 5 years or 72k £650. The aux belt is 3 years or 36k.

He hasn't mentioned if the Dephaser has been changed with the cambelt (it should be ideally as its a cambelt off job to do). Make sure it doesn't sound like a diesel both cold and warm.

Check round the top end of the engine for any oil leaks and also check the exhaust, it looks like the standard system which is likely to be pretty rusty by now.

Also got both keys, massive history and decent rubber - normal sure signs its been looked after.

Will come with xenons, climate control, auto wipers, auto lights and cruise control.

Looks like a lovely example, the black clios do look stunning. There is a buyers guide on Cliosport.net, of things to check when you buy it.

It will have climate control and lots of other toys like cruise control.

Thank you. How much is the exhaust system to replace? And which parts are most prone to failing?

Scorpion RS192 catback is around £325 or a Piper system close to standard noise is about £400.

Exhaust mounts often fail and sag (OEM £18, or bodge with radiator hose) - one for each back box and another near the centre silencer (these have been upgraded by Renault to a red rubber version).

Rocker cover gasket often fails leaking oil down the engine (cambelt off job so hopefully ok). Often easier to take the engine cover off if it has one to investigate.

Make sure the engine mounts are ok, no knocking under hard acceleration etc.

Steering wheels tend to 'melt' and thumb grips wear so make sure they are ok (looks fine in the low quality pic)

I have seen this one, which is only 30 miles from home, rather than 200 odd.

Belts look like they're due soon though.

Says they were done at 33k which was its third service(ish). So could be due again time wise in the not too distant future.

Also tow strap - has it been ragged around a track...

Terrible aftermarket exhaust system too poking right out.

Latest service was done 2k miles over as well.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if that was part of one of the cup packs or not.

The one in Cornwall is a tank of fuel away in the Evo, so would be £120 or so just to get there and back. :D
