Who here owns a Renaultsport?

They're worth the same, fancied a change as i've owned it since april 2007.

Infact I suspect the Clio is worth more, the Civics suspension was getting tired, needed paintwork/alloy refurb too. I may still sell the Clio and get another EP3 if I don't get along with it, but it was definitely time for a change.

straight swap

thought the EK9 would have been worth more.

oh... and why? :D

The EK9 is worth as much as people think only in the minds of the true Honda fanboy, who already owns an EK9 anyway. They therefore sit for sale almost indefinately, with the owner deluding themselves that they 'just take a long time to sell' and are not infact massively over priced.

Furthermore, when you are not caning it along your favourite B road the Ek9 is just a Honda Civic. And infact, worse, its just a 10-14 year old shape Honda Civic. An old hatchback.

He obviously tired of this, and realising that he wasn't going to get what the 'scene' thought this hugely over-rated car was really worth, took the opportunity to swap it for a newer example of what is arguably geneuinelly one of the best hot hatches ever made.

We will never agree with each other Fox re: the Civic EK9 and I don't want to take this post too far off topic, but I do agree with certain parts of what you're saying.

I think I've got the better deal. I've got a newer car thats just as capable, just as fast, more economical, more torque and more refined, in better condition - but that Civic was awesome:p I know the image was bad but that didn't matter to the people who knew what the car was about.

I just always loved them. 185bhp from a 1.6 is epic, and in a chassis very similar to that of a DC2 made some fun times:D I'm not moving away from Honda but I won't have another EK9 (been there done that etc) - maybe a DC5 or FD2 later on.

The reason mine was for sale for so long was its condition. People who are going to spend 5-6k on a 10 year old Civic want it to be mint. Mine wasn't.

James at JMS Tuning took some photos of my broken engine.

We removed the head off Nicks engine this afternoon

As you can see from the pics, some serious damage -

The valve head worked its way round 180 degree's and wedged it self back in the head

Cambelt was timed correctly when we removed it so can only be put down as defect in the valve its self.

New engine arrived today so should all be back on the road by end of next week :)

Probably just as well replacing the hangers for £10 each. Did mine when we fitted the Milltek.
