Who here owns a Renaultsport?

The part is the hanger + bush, the whole lot.

It's how they come from Renault, don't think anyone does just the bushes seperately.

Yeah its not hard to tripod at all, not sure how much of that is related to my lowering springs:p

(which btw say Apex on them, wonder why the seller said they were Eibach? ah well, Apex make quality springs)

aha yea they really aren't. Top Gear focused mainly on this in the original review and the flimsy plastics as if anyone cared :p

The tripod easier on standard suspension

The car has a limit around 6700 rpm until its up to temperature. The RS Tuner limit on the 182 is raised to 7500 rpm (up from 7250), for some reason there is a map for the 172 that ups the limiter to 7800 rpm.

Dodgy thermostat ? I think it should sit bang on center or one notch down from center on the temperature gauge when fully warmed up.

Mine revs all the way to 7800 :p

@Sam: Checked the thermostat's working?

Nope how do i check this ? Im pretty sure this is my issue, well that or a coolant temp sensor. Think im just going to order a thermostat from renault and fit it over the weekend to see if that solves the problem. Cars only done 19k so bit miffed im having to change it over :p

I've always done it the proper bodge way! Had a few different thermostats lying around for dads Westifeld, and he wanted a lower opening temperature one in for the summer but they had no markings on them...

Take the thermostat out the car, and get a pot of water on one of the hobs of your oven. Have a thermometer in the 'boiling' water (or whatever temperature your thermostat is meant to open at) and then once the temperature is right drop the thermostat in. If the thermostat doesn't open you'll know it's a duffer.

P.S. Anyone want to give me a double-cupped 182 for free? :p

Mines will be going in for an MoT in the next 4 weeks. Melchy, I agree they can be expensive cars to run sometimes. What have I had done in the past 12 months?

New rear disc's and pads (£150)
2 new tyres (£200)
Miltek exhaust fitted. (£400 fitted)
New manifold to Cat fitting (£100 with silly labour rates)
Service

Cant think if I had my Cam/Aux belts changed in the past 12 months. Anyway they were £700 (Cam kit, Aux kit & new water pump) when I did have them changed.

It quickly adds up!

what have i done in the last 12 months (ive had the car 12 months) ? not a lot !! (172 PH2)

oil change
4 new tyres due to previous owner not doing the tracking
front pads i think

nowt else

Spot of rust on my arch, on an 04 ffs?:p

I cleaned under the arches and there must have been an inch of crap under there, no wonder really, this is what happens when you take your car through the supposedly awesome slovakian hand car washes.

Hoping it's just surface rust :/

Guys

Odd problem, ive recentley noticed that my car wont fully hit the limiter and stops at about 6700 RPM ... It has a rs tuner remap too so its meant to limit at 7800 (or somewhere around that figure) the car can have done a fair few miles and still hit an earlier limiter which seems odd ..

Is there some kind of protection in place which stops the car from hitting the limiter when cold ... im thinking something has gone a bit mad. On another note i noticed the other day on my 12 mile drive home from a mates (and on quite a warm evening) that the temp needle would move to just one bar / to nothing / then up to one bar again and didnt get fully warm. I swear evan on a cold day the same journey would see the temp gauge in the middle.

Whats going on im stumped ?

Right so last night i took the car out for 20 minutes and noticed that it actually got to temp (wahoo) so i floored it to make sure it would hit the limiter at 7500 and it did but as soon as i changed gear and looked at the temp gauge it had gone to 1 notch again ... hmmmmm Its up and down now it seems so im thinking it could be a coolant sensor more so than the thermostat ....

Where is the thermostat / coolant sensor located ... I cant be arsed to go poking about looking so help is appreciated ;-) Once i know ill go and have a poke and a drive.

On another note pagids are fantastic :D only thing is if im in slow moving traffic i can hear them squeeking evan tho im not on the brakes ... surley there not warped as there brand spanking brembo discs. Cant wait to get the Yokohama AO48's on. They are in 16 but i dont think im going to bother putting them on my current wheels as i cant be arsed keep changing my tyres over so ill just get some scabby 182 wheels when i get back from the ring in july.

Really want to get a whiteline ARB and then start throwing it around some decent trackdays ..... Eibach sportline springs / BMC induction / RS tuner remap should also add to the grin factor these really are great little cars :)

My Yellowstuffs are a bit squeaky but not when off the brakes, only when being really soft, say in slow moving traffic. Good pads for the price though and quite impressed, not as good as pagids though.

2 more days of Clio ownership to go.

Something a little bigger with more doors. I'm getting old now so need to be a bit more sensible ;)

Pick up tonight, will start a thread when I'm back home tomorrow.
