Who here owns a Renaultsport?

BTB exhaust for my 182 has just turned up, hopefully getting it fitted tomorrow. It looks a excellent piece of kit. It replaces my Milltek which has developed a rather nasty rattle as some of the internal lining has come loose.

Enjoy it! They're really nice  ... but really expensive .

I wanted a dual rear silencer set up, but other than the Milltek (which I currently have issues with) and the RS192 there doesn't seem to be many other options around for a dual rear silencer. I decided that in the grand scheme of things that the additional costs weren't that bad (I did get a cliosport discount), especially since I intend to keep it as a second car till it breaks (which may be sooner rather than later :D). Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to get it fitted until Monday afternoon :(.

This isn't mine and is probably not the best video (bouncing off the limiter) but should give an idea of the sound. By all accounts the fitment is excellent, and it's one of the few 182 exhausts with proven power gains however small.

I'm currently trying the Goodyear Eagle AS2 on the back of my 182 and I think they are excellent. Would also like to put them on the front, but the damn Hankook Evo's are not wearing down quickly enough :( To be honest I wish I'd never bought the Hankook's and had stuck with the PE2's or the PS3's as the AS2 in the correct size weren't available at the time.

On a 182 tyres should be 33 front, 30 rear. I personally run 34 front, 31 rear.

Just ordered an RS Clio 200t today (flame red). Though factory build, so arriving September at earliest.

And yes, I actually (regardless of the so-so press) do like it. Tried a Fiesta ST but found the ride way to harsh for the badly made up rural roads round here (SW Scotland). Not knocking the ST, it's a great little motor, but just not for me. So decided to get rid of the Suzuki and the sensible Fabia and get just one car (not many 5 door hot hatches to choose from).

While appreciating it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea and that a fair few are disappointed that it's not an uber hard core hot hatch. It is still a pretty fast, decent handling motor. Just got to learn how to get the best out of the DSG box. I can think of ways it could be improved (drop "normal" mode for a start). Don't think personally it's the speed of the changes that's the issue (Race mode is 150ms fr Gods sake, as fast I believe as the box in an Enzo). It's the fact that the other two modes are 200/170ms that confuse / cloud the issue.

Each to their own. Be boring if we all drove the same car :)

PS. I'll post up some pictures when the new car arrives.

Be interesting to see what you think of it, if you look past the transmission quite a few reviews I read suggest it has a superior chassis to the St, let's face it Renault sport know how to make a good chassis.

My 172 has 205/45/16 on.

I'm looking to drop down to 195/55/15.

Been told that will improve the ride.

195/50/15 is the tyre size generally used in 15" form on the clio.

Also to be honest i didn't notice any difference in ride between the two tyres and have gone back to 205/45/16, as the car looks better with 16" wheels.

Biggest upside in going to 15" is the tyres generally cost about £30 each less than the 16" version.

Oh.. I was lead to think that the 195/55 over the 205/45 would give a softer ride?

I'm trying to reduce the pain from small bumps in the road.

I broke my back around 10 months ago so feel everything lol

Changing from 205/45/16 to 195/55/15 will mean you've got 15mm extra tyre sidewall to make up for the one inch smaller alloys. A higher profile sidewall has to be a bit better for comfort than low profiles.
But whether it alone will make a noticeable difference? Then that's hard to know without trying!

Combine it with fitting tyres that have particularly soft sidewalls, and non-cup springs/dampers… then with it all added up you might have a noticeable difference.

I had the BTB exhaust fitted to the 182 a week or so ago. The car actually feels much smoother and much to my surprise its actually quieter than the Milltek that was on there unless you are really booting it. Unfortunately I have an annoying rattle which is somewhat disappointing as the fit on the BTB was meant to be excellent. I'll need to try and get it refitted.

Milltek were excellent as far as a warranty goes, they provided a new rear section within a couple of days, so I have a new boxed back box and my older mid section for sale. If I can't get the rattle with the BTB sorted the Milltek will be reffited on the car.

Well worth the upgrade ;)
Oops should say this is on my 225 megane

I also had a new map on the 172. The Ron97+ Map

Such a smoother experience now. Lost that 5k Kick too.

Just hoping the MPG hasn't taken a massive hit :/
