Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Whilst I'm here I've noticed my brakes have developed a bit of travel. It had new Brembo high carbon discs/pads fitted immediately before I bought the car (October 2015) - they'd done about 2 miles before I picked it up. I've probably done about 5000 miles since then and rarely abuse them.

When I push down on the brake pedal there's a few inches of travel before it starts biting. When it does bite the pedal feels hard and not spongy but the car definitely feels less like I'm running into a brick wall when I stamp on them - though this could just be having got used to them. With the car off after a few pumps it goes solid much further up the pedal.

I've not took the wheels off to have a look but assuming the discs/pads are still good could it just need bleeding?

I'd bleed some typ200 through and see how it goes. First port of call and easy to do.

It's best to support the engine. The gearbox mount definitely needs support, just use a trolley jack with a bit of wood to spread the load.

Come on man!! Pics don't work :(

Spacers have been bought off a chap from Clio200.net, and will fit them sometime this week when they arrive. Next purchase is two new tyres and cup spoiler. After that, it's just the exhaust and wheel refurb :D

Nice looking car. I'm really warming to them, need to do a bit more research about second hand ones - always good to learn about these kinda motors as I'm more of a hot hatch man historically!

They seem to be holding residual value really well. Presumably because of the good reviews and end of production next month.

Apparently the next one in 2017 is 300bhp+ but will be DCT only and maybe even 4WD.

Mine could be one of the last Manual Megane RS' :(

Having driven it for a few days I'm very pleased with my choice. The interior is good quality overall, the infotainment is good and the low level of cabin noise is actually very surprising! Mine has been put together well apart from a couple of interior panels in the boot, but some people have had a couple of issues with plastic trim not being afixed properly.

Ride quality is as expected with the Cup chassis. Firm, but not completely bonkers. No complaints on the commute through town.

Have averaged 26mpg thus far during town driving. Hit 40+ on the motorway at 70mph. Very good considering I'm stilling running it in.

"RS" button that changes the Engine/Throttle/Steering maps is very entertaining. Feels like a completely different car in Sport and Race mode. Wasn't sure how the Electrical Power Steering would feel, but I really think they've done a great job. Will be able to tell better when I've done some more spirited driving.

Haven't really pushed the performance boundaries yet, but I had a quick play with an S3 and had no trouble keeping up. This surprised me as the S3 is supposed to be quite a bit quicker to 60.

Depends on which generation, once rolling there probably won't be anything in it if its a newer one. My friends Megane Sport 225 which is stock bar a decat and cat back system is only a couple of car lengths behind my supposedly 300/310hp S3.

I'm looking at getting another 182, having sold my last one almost 2 years ago. Now my wife drives, we've got a family car to share for family moving duty. Means I can get a cheap second car for driving to work and playing with.

Ideally looking to spend no more than £2.5k, or £1.5k if it needs belts and mods that aren't already done.

What's peoples opinions on the ideal spec/mod list? I'd like at least a decent aftermarket exhaust, Eibach (or maybe cooksport) springs, rs tuner map.

I've been thinking maybe getting one that needs belts doing, so that it's cheaper to buy and then doing cams and belts straight away.

Seems a bit expensive. I just paid 7.5k for very much the same car with 42k miles and 60 plate, AC and Recaro's, Cup Spoiler and had the belts done included in the price.

Cheers, if he rings back with confirmation of service history I can start talking price.

There's also this literally 100 yards away to help the haggling process

http://www.biscuitmotorcompany.co.uk/used-RENAULT-CLIO-Newcastle-Tyne-and-Wear-783462

However the salesman is a massive slime bag and absolutely refused to budge on the price.

Even when I pointed out the mismatched ditchfinders and said I'd need to spend a few hundred on replacements he only offered to get me them at cost.

His only concession would be increasing the warranty to a year and £1,000 limit and a service after a year. I asked him if he thought I'd have to take advantage of the warranty or otherwise he was giving me nothing in reality
