Who here owns a Renaultsport?

A year ago £5-6k would've got you one with 80-100k miles on it. This one has considerably less, but still seems quite overpriced. I expect it'll be bought by someone who will keep it in a garage for years.

04/12/2009 - 13,811 miles, Renault Sevenoaks (Receipt present)
07/12/2010 - 14,020 miles, Renault Sevenoaks (Cambelt included, receipt present)

27/11/2013 - 19,558 miles, Renault Sevenoaks (Receipt present)
25/11/2014 - 19,734 miles, Renault Sevenoaks (Receipt present)

So they basically drove to the shops a few times and then got it serviced again. Seems a bit overkill but I guess you can say it's looked after.

Just joined the Renault Sport crowd. Picked up my Megane GT the other day (yes it is made by Renault Sport, it just isn't the really fast proper one :p).

Pretty pleased with it so far. Renault have really upped their game with the new Megane in my opinion. Is as nice inside and feels just as well made as any Golf I have been in. The 7 speed EDC gearbox is pretty good as well and the engine has a nice balance of power/economy (same engine that is in the RS Clio, tuned at 205bhp).

Also, personally I think it is one of the prettiest hatchbacks on the market. Far more stylish than most of what the other marques are pumping out these days.

Spec wise it is pretty mighty - full LED headlights (DRL,low and high beam) with high/low beam assist, keyless entry and go, auto lights and wipers, auto electrically folding mirrors, 4 wheel steering, launch control, adaptive cruise , active emergency braking, heated leather/alacantra sport seats, 360 parking sensors with rear view camera and self parking system, bose sound system, 7 inch customisable TFT instrument screen, 8.7 inch touch screen infotainment with nav, voicecontrol etc, dual zone climate control, visio traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, customisable driving modes , customisable interior lighting , and probably more that I have forgotten.

Will try to get some more pictures up soon but here is one I took pre-collection

Will try to get more photos up at the weekend.

Agreed, one of the best looking hatchbacks on the market, those new Megane. Thanks for clarifying the RenaultSport comment too as I'd seen a couple of GT's and noticed that they had the RenaultSport badge and thought folk were doing a 'BMW M' on them.

How much did it set you back? They have an expensive RRP IMO, but I assume decent discounts can be had?

Yes, the RRP for this with all the options it has above the standard spec (heated leather/alacantra interior/seats, bose sound system, 360 sensors and self park, adaptive cruise and active breaking) is £29k+. This one is 10 months old with just over 2000 miles on the clock and I paid 16.7K from a Renault dealer ( so used approved) which considering it still has over 3 years warranty and roadside assistance and hardly any miles, is pretty decent. Imagine paying list price and losing £13k in under a year though (not that anyone in their right mind should pay the list though obviously).

I'm sure a DSG Golf GTI would have been a more sensible option. However, id be looking at a 2 year old + one for that money with only 1 year warranty left and it would have been very difficult to find a Golf GTi with all the spec this has and this is just so much prettier in my opinion (so it was a heart over mind purchase really). :p

That initial depreciation is astounding :o

Nice looking thing though, will make a brilliant daily I'm sure.

Thanks for clarifying - they certainly make an interesting proposition.

How's the BOSE system? Odd thing to ask but I practically constantly listen to music and podcasts whilst driving.

I will report back to you as I haven't properly tested it out yet. It did sound pretty good when I tested it on the test drive. I have only done one drive to work and back in it so far since I collected it and didn't have much music on as I'm trying to get used to it (mainly getting used to an automatic as I have driven manuals for the last 10 years!).

I will test it out on a range of music in the next few days and let you know as I am a bit of an audiophile as well!

I love my megane rs250. It's 6yrs old now but one of best looking hatchbacks on the road.

I still get people look and comment upon it. It's brilliantly agile, it's fast as I can handle (300bhp mapped) and it's an occasion every time I take it for a spin on country lanes.

First thing I'd do is debadge the rear. It looks so much cleaner without the megane lettering.

Half price almost with only 2k miles? Ouchies

Got to admit I like the 4 wheel steering in this. Feels like a slightly odd sensation at first but then you realise how much it is helping you turn in and avoid understeer. It also helps manoeuvrability at low speeds as well as the rear wheels turn the opposite way as the fronts at low speed ( to help manoeuvrability) but at high speeds they turn the same way (to help cornering). It is quite a neat feature. You can adjust the level of the 4 way control as well.

Also quite like the paddle shifters - they are metal and feel solid and the gear changes are very quick. Had a quick go in manual mode on my way home from work today and it was quite fun :). Very smooth, can't even feel the changes.

Also, how did I ever live without adaptive cruise and auto high/low beam assist. They are both brilliant features.

So far I am quite impressed. Feels just as fast as my ST MP215 to be honest, and also just as comfortable on a twisty b road. However, it feels a lot more "grown up" as it were, compared to the Fiesta ST.

Only niggle is the steering wheel isn't level when going straight (when going straight the wheel is slightly (about ~5 degrees) to the left) so it needs the tracking/wheel alignment done. Strangely enough I had the exact same issue with my Fiesta ST when it was brand new. Hopefully Renault will sort that out for me.

I bet the full blown Megane RS coming out soon (late 2017/early 2018?) will be mighty. Apparently it is going to feature the same 4 control steering system and have a choice of manual or EDC auto gearboxes and 300bhp.

From my brief time with the GT so far though, I think it is going to be great all round daily to live with.

You got them the wrong way around, but near enough :p

Interesting that it's adjustable though, didn't know that.

Have had the opportunity to have a listen to the bose system over the last few days. It is pretty good. Nice clarity and strong bass. It probably isn't the best car stereo I have ever heard but it is miles better than the standard crap you usually get (quite a bit better than the Sony system in my Fiesta ST for example).

Thanks for the heads up Jono! Certainly one on my list now. Be interested to hear how you get on with this car overall - bit of a left field choice! :)

It is a bit! Haven't seen a single other one the road yet! However, so far i am very pleased with it. It feels very well put together and whilst granted, i don't have much experience of auto boxes, it feels great and just as good the DSG leons and golfs I had test drives in. I love all the tech it comes with as well. It practically drives itself.

I will try and do a little write up/mini review at some point soon after i have owned it for a bit longer.
