Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Absolute madness. If anyone buys that they need their bumps feeling.

It's a piece of motoring history though and at that mileage, it is aimed at the collectors and people who value this sort of money like we would buying a hot wheels toy car.

The performance of the MKII V6 at the time was outstanding. There weren't many about anyway and they are still a rare sight. I have only seen a handful over the years actually on the road in the silver or blue. We are spoiled by the modern hot hatches but back then 150-200bhp and 0-60 in 6.5-7.5 was the typical hot hatch with a few outliers.

You can pay a lot less for good condition V6s with low mileage but that is as close to fresh out of the factory as you can probably find.

I just don't understand why you buy a Clio to keep low mileage? Was the guy just a millionaire with a Renualt fetish?

I don't get it at all!

Im becoming obsessed with the idea of putting Gold Fondmetal 9rr wheels on my white rs 250.

I've got 4 pilot sport 4s getting fitter next week but I kinda wish they were going on new wheels.

It's a lot of cash though :(

Has anyone got, or know of, an R26 for sale? Got a maximum budget of £5.5k and looking for sub 85k miles and in yellow/blue/red/white. There's a few up for sale in the normal places but they either need tyres/clutch/cambelt replacing. Am I being unrealistic expecting to find one in my budget that doesn't need any work and has been looked after properly?

Does anyone suffer from squeaky pedals in a 197/200? My clutch pedal has always squeaked since I bought the car at the start of the year but it now sounds like the accelerator has joined in the fun.

And the drivers side Recaro has developed a squeak too from the base somewhere. It's not a consistent squeak and seems to happen randomly!

My clutch pedal did it when I first bought the car, I just sprayed some WD40 on the linkage and it went away after a couple of days as the oil worked it's way in.

Hi guys,

What's the correct coolant temperature on an R26? I'm monitoring mine via the Torque Pro app and it holds a pretty steady 82c. It goes higher if left to idle, or stuck in traffic for a while, but quickly drops off when moving again, though doesn't drop lower than 80c.

Normally I'd expect the coolant temp to be around the 90-95ish mark. The obvious cause of mine being lower would be the thermostat sticking open, however it heats up quickly and doesn't drop under 80c. Is fitting a cool running thermostat something that's done on the Meganes? Only owned the car a month but is modified (turbo back 3" KTR exhaust, KTR induction kit, 630cc injectors, Forge intercooler, remapped to around 270bhp) though there's no mention of a different thermostat being fitted in the pile of paperwork I have for it.

Are there any benefits of the coolant sitting around 82c, or am I better off swapping the thermostat out for a genuine Renault one?

Cheers

Sounds about normal. Its the same thermostat as the Clio 172/182s which open at 89°C. From monitoring mine in the past it typically rises to 89°C where the stat opens fully, it then drops to about 81°C and then rises again. Only goes to low 90s when pushing the engine.

Getting my Meg 250 mapped Monday :D can not wait, they are going to fit an Airtec intercooler, a Forge recirc valve too

Went to the RenaultSport store in Paris last week, it was pretty cool.

Lots of things to buy in terms of merchandise, even the cars all had their Euro pricing and kit levels. Was basically a posh showroom;

Thanks. Going to book the car into RS Tuning for a health check/check over the map so I know it's all good before getting some trackdays booked up so will check with them that's it's OK.

The new Megane RS looks absolutely gorgeous. Really tempted to swap my Clio RS for it when it's out. Not sure which I prefer colour wise. Liquid Yellow or Volcanic Orange both look fantastic.

Waiting for the trophy version will give me some time to put the pennies away :D

Recently purchased a Liquid Yellow R26. Plan on getting it on track next year and taking it over to the Nurburgring. It's currently got a few performance modifications (KTEC 3" turbo back exhaust, KTEC induction kit, Forge intercooler, Forge dump valve, single mass flywheel, 630cc injectors, remapped to approximately 270/270) It will be going to RS Tuning to get the map checked over and a general health check in the next month or so. When I bought it the roof and wing mirrors had been wrapped in black vinyl, which has since been removed and the original roof decals have been ordered. The wheels will be going back to anthracite too so

Nice. I really considered an F1 edition ( or whatever they're called) before I bought my MX5. The interior really put me off though :(

I came from an import mk2 mx5 RS due to now having two boys which resulted in it getting next to no use. I regret selling it but this was the best hot hatch available for my budget.
The interior of the Megane is ok tbh, it's not as offensive as it appears in pictures. I plan on getting my wheel retrimmed with leather / alcantara with yellow stitching and position band and also fit an android double din headunit then that'll be it for me.
