Who here owns a Renaultsport?

According to the stats the ph1 172 is a little bit lighter than a ph2 172 making it marginally quicker to 60 (around 0.1 of a second) nothing significant.

MPG i would imagine is the same. Only different between the ph1 and ph2 172 engine is the airbox. The ph1 uses a tubular style air filter, where as the ph2 and 182 use a flat filter as Renault redesigned the airbox housing. think the ph1 172 might also have slightly different gear ratios but don't quote me on that.

My m8 has a 182 & its deffo screwed together better than my vts.
A nice refined car but a bit small inside.
The engine sounds a bit harsh.
Its got a nice amount of torque top-end, my vts will only keep up with it up to 80mph.

'Advantages' of a phase 1 are:

Slightly quicker to 60, not much in it
It's lighter
Suspensiton geo is different (apparently in a good way)
Slightly longer geared apparently, the ratios were shorted (or the final drive, I 've no idea!) on the phase 2s to counter the extra weight
Miles better airbox design
Cable throttle rather than electronic 'fly by wire' as found on all other 1x2s
15 inch OZ alloys, look better than all the other model's wheels bar the Cup/Trophy Turinis imho, and cheap tyres :)
Oh, an dirt cheap to buy now :)

'Disdavantages' are

Air con instead of climate
Some dislike the interior, doesn't really bother me
Body is the older style

'No idea if its good or bad' differences

The heads on the phase 1s are CNC'd with 30% larger exhaust ports than the phase 2 which has a cast head with different style exhaust ports. Don't think it's either good or bad, just different :)
Phase 1 has a weird split/2 chamber cat on it, also only has 1 lambda sensor. Phase 2 has a more conventional cat and 2 lambdas.

Probably more I've missed, search over on Cliosport and they'll be mentioned a million times :)

Anyone know of any decent after market Rear Box for these? Got to get this one swapped over for something quieter.

Barron i see you just bought the RSTuner, is paypal the only form of payment Henk takes?

All his website lets you use but you can always drop him an email as he's very good at responding quickly :) I remember when he made one of the original turbo kits for the old 19, was a cracking setup he offered very cheap, wish I'd got one at the time :(

It is possible to buy via PayPal with a normal Credit/Debit card, without the need for an account if that helps.

They look awful though. I've yet to see a visible zorst that suits the car.

I've seen a couple of systems cut into the bumper that look quite good, I was tempted when I had mine but decided against it in the end.
