Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Jersey unfortunately else id take it to k-tec. I do have a cliosport account - i'll dig it out but i'm not a paid member. As you can see from my post count Im more of a lurker than contributer :o

I had my Milltek fitted yesterday, although the people who fitted it told me there is something wrong with my CAT (not sure what, but it makes a light rattle when accelerating).

It sounds AWESOME. Will post some videos shortly.

I'm sure it was aux belt which was lowered, not cambelt (often when the aux belt goes, it takes the cambelt with it I believe)

Although the handbook says 72k for cambelt this was then corrected to 36k after a few peoples cars snapped cambelts well before 72k.

Best practice is to get the cambelt done at 36k.

Nope was never lowered to 36k for the cam belt iirc.

72k or 5 years is usually fine.

As ev0 said. 72k or 5 years for the cambelt, maybe a few months/thousand miles before to be on the safe side at most.

Its the aux belt which needs changing at 36k/3 years

Benny make sure you brake the pads and discs in correctly, otherwise they will warp.

also according to Fred @ BTM, as the ds2500 are race pads they will squeal, theres nothing you can do apart from file the ends and remove the shims (which you have done)

there should be 1-2mm gap top and bottom of the pads/carrier when files down.

Had them out yesterday and twice again this afternoon. Filed and then even swapped the sides around and tried some copper grease. Only done about 1-200 miles so they've not really bedded in yet.

Still for the life of me can't stop the squealing.

Could you tell me if the pads should be suspended between the two ends by the caliper? or if one end should be making contact with the gap at one end to allow expansion? or should both ends be contact free?

Benny you have what are essentially pads meant for a race track. They will have a high metallic content to allow them to deal with the heat in such environments. They will squeal. Some do more so than others. There's not much you can do over and above what you have done. If you don't want your brakes to squeal as it's primarily a road car then fit OEM/OEM+ pads.

The most annoying thing is that they barely even squealed before I took them out to faff around :( Was just the last second when pulling up. Wish I'd left them be! Still a brilliant set up! Will report back tomorrow If I've made any progress.

I know what you mean. I had Black Diamond Predator pads on my old scooby and they were fine for ages. Then one day the squealing started. It didn't stop. Even after refitting/re-greasing etc. etc. Fixed by fitting OEM pads. Good luck!

Guess what ive just bought. Thought i would be different and erm buy a clio 182 :) No pictures yet just having belts done for piece of mind. Its 35k on the clock and is standard appart from full miltek exhaust.

This is how the Milltek is sitting for now. Hoping to find somewhere that can re-weld some of the mounting bars, or the better option of putting a slight bend in after the resonator to put it to the left about 1cm. Currently cable tied around the mounts. Plenty of room for flex/bounce and movement when warm.

Yeah, they're out a fair bit, enough so that you can see the 'Milltek Sport' logo on the top.

I quite like them like that, not too far out so as to look silly :)

If you wanted yours out further just loosen the clamp after the resonator and give it a little twist/tug/pull ;)

Ordered some sound deadening and some 16.5cm Focal Components which I plan on fitting this weekend! Have to make some MDF baffles but should be a massive improvement on my budget 13cm Alpines. In a few weeks time my trusty 8 year old Alpine headunit will be gone and replaced with something newer and also the mini Alpine headunit amplifier too (connects via the ISO harness and outputs a true 45watts x 4 RMS with 100watts x 4 max - only 6" x 2" x 2" so fits nicely behind the dash!) which looks like a good option as my 182 doesn't like stand alone amps!

Will post some snaps of how I get on modifying the door cards & sound proofing!

I'll check the site now, cheers :) Read the review on Talk Audio, just want a quick easy solution without rewiring my car really. I've got a Pioneer head unit currently, but I always fancy a change anyway so to save cutting the inline amp up, swapping to an Alpine wouldn't be a problem :D

Hey just done a insurance quote im 21 with 4 years no claims, for 172 and 182 pretty the same price coming back £750 and £800. Got a top budget of 4k to spend so looking at 172 as i would want a good one. What sort of stuff should I be looking out for? Would 4k even get me a decent 172?
