Who here owns a Subaru?

Not an Impreza but you get the idea. I think 2 gauges in a single DIN looks so much tidier.

Couldn't find the ProSport gauge with a black bezel to match the LC-2 Wideband Gauge anywhere, but it was the closest looking gauge I could find

Right for gauges in newage.. i had turbo boost, oil temp & oil pressure. I had electrical gauges so they have a sensor in the engine bay and just a wire running back to the gauge as opposed to mechanical gauges where run lines (like boost or oil) directly to the gauge.

I had a pod which fits in where the clock goes, this is handy as you can just cut the wires for the clock which gives you a very handy source of switched ignition and permanent power. The Prosport gauges (and probably most others) daisy chain together so you only need 1 source of power.

Boost - Tap into somewhere on the inlet manifold, most seem to tap into the hose going from the dump valve to the manifold as its the easiest, i then mounted the electrical sender to the boost solenoid bracket on the drivers side strut tower. There's a handy rubber grommet just by the brake servo you can get all your cables through into the cabin just by there too.

Oil temp - If you look under the intercooler there's a blanking plug in the top of the block above cylinder #3, you can get a kit which gives you a new plug with a thread for the adaptor. You need to take the intercooler off to get to this but it's the best place for the sensor as that cylinder runs the hottest so you get the best warning from it, but remember when comparing temps with other people you may be 10C more than those getting their temp from a sandwich plate on the oil filter.

Oil pressure - you use the other adaptor with the kit to replace the stock oil pressure sensor which is behind the power steering pump.

This is the kit i used

If you look in this album at the last engine bay pic you can see the oil pressure adator at the front and also the boost sender near the strut tower

Looks better and tidier than some of the A pillar pods and other haphazard gauge installations out there.

What cable?

I just wouldn't bother with them entirely, or hide them under the passenger side dash just in the drivers view.

It just looks terrible...

Right guys I got a version 2 1996 WRX import earlier in the year, it had been sat unused for a year or two and it's a bit rough round the edges. I sorted the obvious things like new brakes, new exhaust etc and took it for an MOT but it failed on emissions. I've checked what i can but i'm at a bit of a loss of what to try next.

When you start the car it bogs down and almost dies, then when you press the throttle quickly it almost dies again before the revs rise, if you press the throttle slowly the revs will rise normally. The car drives pretty fine when i took it to the MOT place, the stuttering is only really noticeable when cold and sat still but i'm thinking its the route of my emissions issues as it's cleanly not running correctly.

It's got a new Lambda sensor, i've cleaned the MAF and tried a different MAF (however that may well be broken too as it's a 2nd hand one from eBay). I've checked the spark plugs and they all look fine and are all even, the coilpacks appear fine and everything on the intake side is done up tightly.

It's not storing any codes in the very limited ECU display (i dream of a car with ODB2 again like my old 2005 STi )

When i unplug either the MAF, O2 sensor or something like the throttle position sensor (basically anything to cause a CEL) it runs a lot better, the revs rise instantly instead of bogging down as i assume it's running a safe open loop map in limp mode?

Here's a video of what it's doing:

Any ideas?

I'd be looking at throttle body/icv and the rest of the air intake.

Also! Your car looks really clean Ace :O

Checked the idle control valve? Does it smell like its running rich?

Edit: Just watched the vid, I'd put money on that being a sticky IACV my MX5 was doing the same when I dropped the Idle control duty cycle too low

Well yesterday I sold my Subaru so thats the end of 6 years Impreza ownership.

Just left with my company car now, Lexus IS300h.

Also! Your car looks really clean Ace :O

My cleaning method was strong on this.... I meven went as far as removing the rear spoiler to clean underneath it when I cleaned the car..

Check it out resting on my Lexus.... not sure it suits a Lexus though
