Who here owns a Subaru?

The H6 is a great engine though..

Need to sort some test drives, I know you said you liked the H6 when we spoke about it before.

That's more power than I was expecting tbh, 270 is certainly nothing to be sniffed at! I'm with you on the Wagon styling too, the Legacy is also quite a bit more spacious and you get a few more toys.

I suppose it depends how much you value the fun of the turbo and the boxer exhaust note. The R has displacement on its side so will certainly be no slouch. Maybe because when I was looking, I was mainly focusing on auto boxes and expected them to be a bit of a yawn fest, ha.

Think I'll miss the feel of a turbo engine, no boxer burble from a Twin Scroll GT though

Lovely colour that. Looks great.

Ripped off a mudflap, do'h. Reversing up my drive it must have got stuck between the slight bit of curb and my tyre. Went with a rate noise, heart sank thinking i had hit my wall. Luckily it just unpopped from the plastic clips and easily went back on.

I need to get some mud flaps. It looks like there has been some previously fitted but removed before I bought it (or at some point in its life).

Don't want huge ones so I have been eyeing up the 'mini flapz' on eBay and the like.

Just been watching a few videos of the 3.0R and it actually goes pretty well! Looks like the auto will do 0-60 in just over 7 secs and it sounds good too.

Are they reliable? Is the 2.5 in the Legacy the same EJ25 used in the Impreza?

Ryan, both of my rear mud flaps have succumbed to being reversed into curbs :( They've clipped back on but I really should replace the clips as they did get a bit mangled.

Is there an online parts catalogue anywhere that I can browse to get part numbers etc? The Rover EPC I used to use was so useful.

3.0R is pretty much bomb proof with proper servicing from what I understand. 2.5 in the legacy is the N/A variant unless you're lucky enough to own an S402 then it's the same 2.5 as the STI

I've been eyeing up the Legacys for a bit now, i really want a Spec B but they're a bit rich for me, quite tempted by a regular GT.

From what i've gathered the Manual is 280 and the auto is 265 with a smaller turbo with ceramic wheel for quicker spool but less top end, which to me sounds ideal for a daily car.

the other option is a 2.5 or 3.0 possibly in outback form as they're able to be had in manual more easily and then possibly get it LPG'd especially if it was a 3.0!

I really need to get a few test drives sorted of the 2.5 and 3.0 really to decide if it'd be worth me holding out and spending more on the JDM one or not.

Thanks, your car look awesome too.that looks like a nice chunky steering wheel..how much does one cost? Something thats bug me slighlty is how skinny my cars steering wheel feels.

Thanks

It's a DAMD steering wheel. It reuses the airbags and centre panel from your original wheel.

How does the DAMD wheel feel?

I had one on my shopping list but a guy with a Spec C RA said it made the car feel more twitchy.

I found a place online that will mod the OE wheel to make it flat bottomed and recovered.

Feels perfect, not noticed it being more twitchy at all, probably the best mod I've done so far. There is a guy on the bay who is doing recovered and modified wheels if you send one off to him he will get it done. Nearly went for one of those, but this ended up costing the same but much better quality.

Got it from japan with a bunch of other stuff

Biffa, how did you get the DAMD wheel so cheap?

There's a firm on SNet selling them but they want £465 - was it bought before brexit?

I've just ordered a new single din head unit and a cubby hole. was going to go double din then i thought a din pocket would be handy for my phone - it always slides out of the 'cubby' hole infront of the gearstick when i boot it :D

I wanted bluetooth but decided against it because i have a little sunvisor bluetooth thing for my phone (which i rarely use anyway). Then i decided i wanted DAB, but didn't want the aerial stuck to the screen. Ended up with an ordinary head unit in the end but with android music control when i plug it in. Saved me about £100 over what i was going to spend, anyway :D

Need new floor mats and mudflaps next.

What phone do you have Phil? My old Nexus 5 was a perfect fit for that cubby hole :D

Found my locking wheel nut key, saved a load of faffing about.

Also ordered a few lengths of different size silicon to replace some of the vac pipes in the engine bay. Started to replace them between the rain today and some of the rubber was so brittle and loose fitting, I really hope it sorts my boost leak. Also going to change the throttle body gasket too.

Wileyfox Swift.

For how often I am in the car the unit that i've ordered will be fine. Got a trip to Nurburgring in May so I'll load a USB with music and take that too.

Saw a Wide track parked up today, had one of those silly bungs in the exhaust :(

Similar size to the N5 with a case and mine seemed to stay in place, although you do have a 130bhp advantage over my old WRX so understandable ;)

I have a single DIN Pioneer DEH-X9600BT which I've had for a couple of years, and even doing 600 miles a week for a year didn't see me wishing for more features. I do now think that DAB would be nice but with a large music collection and a 16GB USB stick, it's not too much of an issue. If I get fed up, I can always stream a Youtube playlist.
