Who here owns a Subaru?

Both very tasty.

Here's my new steering wheel

Thanks, your car look awesome too.that looks like a nice chunky steering wheel..how much does one cost? Something thats bug me slighlty is how skinny my cars steering wheel feels.

Thanks

Nice Rybo. How you finding it?

Bet your friend is gutted at the power figure. By standard, we're talking 265bhp right

Love it mate, absaloutly fantastic. Driving is fun again.

Yeah, he wasnt too please but it is his own fault. He wouldnt of even looked at the engine bay when buying the car, i know what he is like.

Agw, take a picture and post it up. Hopefully one of us will have the same key so u can get the code for it.

I did this with my VXR on VXRonline and the first post sorted me out.

I had to get the removal key smashed in to mine to 'form' the shape of the locking but, which then was undone. Worked on 3 of them, had to weld a bolt on the last one!

Swapped those bulbs around, not sure how it looks any different really :)

Locking nut remover is definitely an option but I don't think the nuts are super tight so reckon I'll get away with hammering a socket on.

Glad you're enjoying the car. I've not driven a standard one but can imagine they feel a lot different to a PPP car, let alone one with 370bhp!

Get it to RCM or another good mapper and you'll probably see another 25bhp over the PPP package without doing anything else.

Yeah, mine was mapped by JGM too. Feels really good to drive.

The guy who owned it before me took it to Scooby Clinic first but he said it left him a bit underwhelmed and had a massive flat spot. After taking it to JGM he said there was a huge difference.

Is yours a TD05 Phil?

I think the TD05 was standard on the STi. WRXs had the TD04. Not sure which year they switched to the VF35, could have been with the introduction of the widetrack in late 04 but not 100%

TD05 was only on the classics. All UK Newage STIs were a VF35 (On EJ20s) anyway.

Think a decision has been made and I'll be becoming a Subaru owner by the end of the year, albeit not an Impreza

Ahhh, cheers Frozen. Clears that up then :)

What've you been looking at? Can only be a Legacy GTB or Forester STi surely ;)

Legacy 3.0R Wagon most likely. I'd love a JDM Spec B but that would mean doubling my budget, and there doesn't seem to be many of the JDM 2.0GTs that are the WRX based legacy in the UK

I know you've all seen it before but I cleaned it today and can't help but smile every time I see it. There's not much I'd change externally. I'd love a set of PFF7s but just love how it looks at the moment.

Despite being the nicest and most expensive car I've owned, it's the only car I've not cracked out the DSLR for photos. Phone cameras (in decent light at least) are really very good.

It's been my dream car since my early teens (well a white classic STi Type R, but this will do) and was definitely worth the wait and progression up to this point. I can't think of anything I'd rather own.

edit... Yes, the peeling rear tints will be going. I tinted them last year with some cheap leftover film to see if I liked the look. I'll get them done by a pro at some point.

Ahhh nice! What are they? 3.0 flat 6 non turbo?

I was looking at getting a Legacy Wagon as a 'runabout' and the 3.0R kept popping up.

Yea UK model is a 3.0 N/A H6

JDM Spec B are a Twin Scroll EJ20S so 280PS

I'm still trying to work out what the plain JDM 2.0GTs are as they are an EJ20S turbo but with a 5 Speed gearbox which would suggest they are essentially a WRX

I need to test drive a 3.0R soon as I've got a feeling it's going to feel awfully slow

I'll be honest and say that a 3.0R does seem an odd choice (although a quick google shows them having over 200bhp). Unless you're planning an aftermarket turbo conversion at a later date, it's not really where my money would be going. Unless of course I'm missing something. Would this be a workhorse or your main car? With you mentioning the Spec B and 2.0 GT it sounds like you're after something a bit fun?

I do like the Legacy though, and they can be a bit of a bargain. I was looking at ~05 plate Legacy Wagons with auto boxes and a decent amount of equipment for around 2.5k

Even I will happily agree its a slightly odd choice, which simply comes down to just preferring the look of the Legacy Wagon vs the Impreza Wagon.

The 3.0R are 245bhp and apparently make around 270ish with a map.

Done a bit of research and it turns out the JDM 2.0GT is also 280ps but with a 5 Speed 'box so that's probably my favorite option

That's more power than I was expecting tbh, 270 is certainly nothing to be sniffed at! I'm with you on the Wagon styling too, the Legacy is also quite a bit more spacious and you get a few more toys.

I suppose it depends how much you value the fun of the turbo and the boxer exhaust note. The R has displacement on its side so will certainly be no slouch. Maybe because when I was looking, I was mainly focusing on auto boxes and expected them to be a bit of a yawn fest, ha.
