Who here owns a Subaru?

My car is running sub-power anyway. I've bought some standard headers, i'm not going to bother trying to run the japspeed tubular headers because if they crack just like the last set did it's a pain in the ****. Do the standard STi headers need to be heat shielded?

Planning on getting them ported and getting a harvey up-pipe.

"Need" is a relative term. If you've got an intake inside the engine bay, and if you also have a TMIC still, then it will help a little. If the answer to both is "no", then it won't help. The bits in between you can work out. But it's not expensive, and if the headers are off anyway, you might as well go for it. Make sure that the insulation is wire-wrapped on the outside though.

Is the heatshield the big old silver casing over the middle of the header? Also what do you reckon it would cost all in to get it ported + trick up-pipe + heat shielded?

Yeah the metal casing around the manifold is the heat shield.

Cost wise, if you are using Harvey to do the work, I believe it's around £300 all in to get ported, trick up pipe and all heated wrapped.

However, Harvey is not the only man who can do the work, many of the tuners offer the service as well, so it may be worth ringing around the local guys and seeing what they offer.

My Dad ported and heat wrapped his manifold as he didn't want to pay someone to do the work :)

Do it properly...

ceramic manis are rather win.

Picked up Ace Modders catback yesterday as the guy selling it lives near me. put it in the hallway and the mrs thought i had bought another catback system for my civic.

after she calmed down i tried to convince her that i planned on installing it on her clio.

looking forward to seeing this on the car Lee. even if the sole purpose of you buying it was to make your car louder than mine :D

I can't remember if there is a cat in the up pipe on the hawkeye WRX?

Either way, exhaust plus remap will make a biiiiiig difference in the way it drives. The 2.5 becomes so torquey!

You will have to run at Powerstation at the RR day as well to see how it goes on there!

Trying to sell my headers that I got for free from Graham Walker, but its not shifting, what do you think is a good price for this? They were £220 new, or can I somehow turn it into a piece of furniture?!

Yes there is, but not for much longer.... mwahahahahaha

Graham @ Engine Mapper said I should see around 340lb/ft after the map. :)

I intend too.

Well Duncan from Racedynamix came down and had a play around with the ECU on my car :)
Feels so much better now, rather than the generic PPP mod, pulls really well in 3rd/4th gear it gets scary LOL
I mentioned your name Kostas, and he only has praise and good words for you ;)

Duncan was awesome, really friendly all the way through, said my airflow was extremely good, up to 276, i think that was the MAF reading or something LOL not really sure. Said the engine was a good 1, which made me happy.

Power wise, Duncan quoted around 320/330Bhp/320 Torque, which if true is amazing.

Next step for me is sorting out the suspension, as i have a knocking rear passenger side shock, then who knows :P

Glad you are happy. You should get down to the rolling road day and see how it does ;)

I hope the praise and good words are genuine! :D

Well finally, after a good few months worth of penny pinching, I now have a budget of £10K and I finally get to get my first ever Scoob.

Problem is - the time of year. Seems to be a terrible time to buy with hardly no 2005 blobs or good 2006/2007 hawks for sale.

Currently have my eye on this - expensive though?

Gurdas - I want your look, I've been a little stalker and looked you up on Scoobynet to save some of your photos for inspiration :p Any high res shots would be much appreciated ;)
ScoobyDoo - do you still have the HKS SSQV for sale, once I get my car I'd have a genuine interest in buying, I also continue to perv on your youtube vids lol

I must be honest, I never did particularly like the blue interior on the STIs - the all black interior looks better from the special edition WR1 or the leather option in the RB320.

Still, as Meridian says, it's not about the interior - if it was I'd buy an Audi/VW - which I did (MK5 R32) and hated :D
