Who here owns a Subaru?

What's the better sti to go for? I'm toying with the idea of getting one, ideally I'm black or blue. I don't know a great deal about imprezas as I have ways preferred evos :o

As late as you can afford. If you want high revs then the Japanese import if the matching UK model has the 2.5 litre engine. A couple of posters here will try to oversell the "all 2.5s blow up" argument and insist that you get an import anyway.

I read earlier about the 2.5 engine and got worried :p

Are later/newer models all well built? I really don't know much about them and i'm unsure if there is much difference in the models and how reliable they are.

After getting expanding foam everywhere and trying to secure leaks I've managed to stop the spoiler leak but water is getting in from the small flap vents in the lower right hand side of the boot, I now know this is because my bumper is sagging slightly and probably needs new clips, so it's a body shop job to align it back up again to make it water tight!

I would spend a bit more if it means I'm able to get a better value car. I would like something that had a bit more power then the standard sti, something with some modest upgrades.

Had cambelt done today using a Gates timing belt kit, £200 all in which I'm pretty pleased about, also had drive belt replaced while they were at it as it was cheap enough.

Managed to sort my boost issue by resetting the ECU (unplugging battery) looks like the MBC that is fitted to the car may have overboosted it and sent it into limp mode or it's possibly because I was using normal unleaded?

Either way I'm planning on removing this boost controller as it's not ideal for an unmapped car in all honesty and I'd be much better off getting a cable and flashing ECU myself?

Also going to stick to super unleaded from now on..

Please do not buy from Bradford.

That car has been up for sale for quite a while now.

Thirded!! In particular avoid that garage (Autoprestige), I went to view a Subaru there last year. They had no knowledge of the car when I asked questions and "they" continued to turn up in droves until I was swamped with 5 Asian males around me, none who could answer any reasonable questions on the car but were so very keen to sell it to me. Very uncomfortable but lucky for me I'm a big lad and didn't feel as intimidated than they would have liked.

Keighley Sports & Prestige, also avoid, this place is a true money laundering outfit and also visited this place directly after the above. This place is down a lane and is just a large warehouse full of Lambos, Porsches etc. It had heavies walking around the perimeter - the place is totally insane.

I also visited another garage in Bradford when looking for an Impreza RB320 - driving around and around and could not find the place. In the end I stopped at another car garage to ask where the place was, they pointed over the road and said that used to be it, they change their name 3-4 times a year. I stupidly still went over to view the car which didnt start on first attempt and curiously lacked a lot of the RB320 extras - I don't think it was even an RB320, just a rebadged STI.

Bradford - stay away from :p People warned me prior but I thought I knew best and thought surely it might just be an odd dodgy garage. The full place is corrupt when it comes to cars.

You need to question how backstreet garages can trade in Lambos, Bentleys and other prestige motors - it's simply easier for them to move cash (launder) around per car. Acklam Car Centre close to me is another example, they are a known drug/laundry ring and on the receiving end of various police raids and weird goings on.

EDIT: It's funny, I wonder where the populous of Bradford buy their cars from :D Certainly not locally I suspect :D

Thanks for clarifying on that car.

I don't sit and watch to see what's been sale for long, so well done for chiming in all :)

I do. I know a lot of a lot of cars in Bradford that have been on sale for quite a while. It's difficult getting cars shifted there because of the reputation of car sellers.

I knew Bradford was a bit if a dodgy place but I didn't know how dodgy :p thanks for the replies guys, you might of saved me from buying a dud!
