Who here owns a Subaru?

anyone able to tell me what to look for in buying a wrx wagon (late 2005 2.0 turbo awd model)?
bound to be some common issues...!
Also what kind of mpg is it likely to do in the town, can't see it doing a lot of miles but want to sell the idea to the wife....

Hi

Well I time to sell my Impreza...it been a great run....but needs must....looking for rough idea what it worth...

Hawkeye 2.5 STI in white
First reg dec 2005 (lower tax)
85K
New Eagle F1's
Speedline 18" 2120 alloys refurbished last week (spare alloy not refurbished as it had to be repaired) - satin black
3-4 little door dings...
no rear spolier
BC Coilovers
spare boot lid

think that it...

So what it worth..most online adverts are all over the place

My first question if I was looking to buy is why is there no rear spoiler? That would question what has caused it to be removed.
P.S. I own white hakweye too! Lovely cars.

There are a few guys remove the rear spoiler to go for a slightly more discrete/smooth look, chances are its nothing sinister.

It's a sad reflection on old Scoobs that you get a better deal breaking them than selling them. If I ever got rid of mine I'd probably do the same.

Most performance cars are the same. I can probably get 50% more if I break the car. Just the way it is.

Its worse now I think because of the crack down on tax and insurance, people can't afford the have a spare car around that isn't taxed or insured. Im not saying that is bad just the way it is now unfortunately.

The car had a Carbon fibre spoiler, which I quite liked, I was planning to go to either a original spoiler of one for the pro-drive ones, but after I removed the carbon..I rather liked how it looked....

Just need to figure what it worth....

So I'm now Subaru-less for the first time in 9 years. Feels weird, but sort of nice at the same time as I'm not worried about the car!

It sounded great driving away though!

Ooo you didn't end up breaking it then?

How much did it go for? Bet you're gutted deep inside.

Never nice to let a good car go but your doing it for the right reasons, also nice to see a car kept whole instead of being broken (even though it would have benefited me :p)

I went out for a proper drive in the hills of Snowdonia yesterday and remembered just how quick my car is on the Welsh B roads. Couldn't think of many cars i'd be happier carrying more speed on cold rainy uneven roads, urge to chop it for an M3/Elise/whatever else i fancy on a whim is laid to rest for a while again.

I'm saving some pennies to get myself another STI, I really regret not giving my 2005 Blob STI more of a chance. I moved on to a VXR Nurb which duly cost me nearly £1500 in repairs over 2 months (snapped manifold, gearbox failure) which is my stupid fault for buying a Vauxhall, never again. Currently driving a little mint 2005 CTR for some cheap fun but I'm missing the kick in the arse of a huge turbo.

Still mulling over sticking with a more reliable 2.0 blob or taking the risk on the 2.5 hawk.

Can't believe yours is gone Kosta, I still watch your vids on youtube now and again :D At least you've had plenty of fun with her :)

father in laws looking at this at moment Subaru Impreza MD321V Turbo Charger

any better for price reliability ?

current spec about 350 bhp. whats the realistic figures safe without going over the top with that turbo 450 ? bhp.

Lateral are quoting 500bhp, with a 2.5 litre engine - the 2.0 will be a little less I think. But they also say that is on race fuel, so yes, 450 on V-Power sounds about right. Ts are more common. You've read all this stuff?

I never answered the other question: reliability. Lateral turbos seem pretty bomb-proof, unless you really do something stupid with the map. My 321H has done close to 40k miles now without a problem. It's been running 1.7 bar for most of that.

Well, my CTR is now on eBay so have started looking around Scoobynet and the usual places for my Scoob. I really forgot how painful it was trying to find a good example of a 2005 widetrack. As much as I like the Hawkeyes, I just cant bear the idea of the failure rate on the 2.5. It seems on Scoobynet there are more posts than ever with such issues.

Im keeping options open mind though - 350Z? Another Golf R32? Evo 8 MR FQxyz? Nah - it has to have that boxer burble and 4WD so only one option :D

Does Gurdas still have his or is he enjoing his Bentley? Love his Scoob :)
