Who is YOUR favourite guitarist of all time ?

Brian May. One of the first to make his guitar truely sing, and he had the balls to play in whatever style he wanted. How many other famous lead guitarists would write a ukulele song like Good Company?

An all round nice bloke too. So my vote goes for Brian May

I'm torn, there are loads of guitarists I like.

I keep veering from Dimebag Darrell, to Slash, back to "classic legends" like Page, and then round the block and back to the start again.

Sod it, I want to sound like Slash so I pick him.

Peter Hayes - BRMC

He's probably not in the same league as others posted but i don't play guitar or know many guitarists. However, the riffs on BRMC and guitar work on Howl is fantastic. And BRMC happen to be my favourite band.

John Frusiante (RHCP),
Johnny Cash,
Jimmy Hendrix,
Kris Roberts (FFAF)

There are loads more but I can't think of anymore off the top of my head.

I really like that sort of playing. For a "mick take" it's bloody enjoyable to listen too.
yeah, i love it too. how someone can just take a song like that and change it into a proper acoustic piece.. genious! :)

Acoustic - Elliott Smith,
Melodic - John Frusciante,
Metal - Kris Norris (Darkest Hour),
Showmanship - Steve Vai. While in my opinion Joe Satriani is the better guitarist, I think Steve Vai has better stage presence.
Alternative (in every sense of the word) - Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (ATD-I, TMV, De Facto)

I'd add in punk, but no outstanding punk players jump out at me.

If I had to pick one though, Kris Norris wins every time. At least, at the moment...
