Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

looks lovely. what happens when you park in the middle of a road one day to take a photo and wannabee colin mcrae comes flying round in his impreza and smashes into your st220? :p

Really hope your joking  I am not saying the ST220 looks like new but the E39 looks like something from the 1980's and is nowhere near as good looking as the ST220.

Well sure, if you pick a gold SE with crap wheels to compare to a sleek black ST220 on 18's.

The like for like comparator - a 530i Sport on 18 inch Style 37's - is a fantastic looking car, perhaps the best looking saloon BMW have ever made and it's easy to see how somebody would think it looks better than an ST220.

I was the biggest Mondeo fanboy on this forum but IMHO the E39 was better than the ST220 in every single way with the exception of reliability, so it it easily tore me away from Mondeo ownership. This remains true today and as a result I'd probably recommend an ST220 over an E39 530i but not because its a better car - because it isn't - but because it's much less faff to own.

Shall we post some pictures of white Mondeo LX's and then say how awful the Mondeo looks? That's basically what you did :p

Passed my MOT with 1 advisory for high parking brake :D

Its a dead end road with about 6 houses on it and I could see about a quarter mile down the road in both directions so felt safe enough. :p

Not too sure why a ST220 is even being compared to a E39

2 completely different cars altogether.

Thye are hardly 'completely different cars altogether'. Both are about the same size (Honestly, look it up) and both have 3 litre 6 cylinder engines developing about 230bhp and offering similar performance. Both have sporty bodykits, sports suspension and a 'sports' interior.

My shortlist when I bought my E39 was right down to ST220 or 530i Sport.

Though I've no idea where the comparison sprang from in this particular thread.

Well that's it looks like I'm keeping my ST220 now :(
A mint 2004 like mine pictured a few posts above with mint leather and 94k on full 12 month Mot and recent service should fetch 3k given that most car dealers are shifting similair aged one's for 3.2k-3.8k.
I had it on eBay for 28 days had:1 guy drive 2hrs then decide he doesn't want it because I top the oil up every few months and he thinks it burns oil, 1 no show after sounding like he 100% wanted it on phone, 1 offer me 2.5k, 1 offer me 2.2k because there is a shed of the same age near him for that price and the best today just before the ad ended. "It's been for sale for ages why don't u just move onto your next project and I'll come down with 2k cash today"
And On Gumtree for 1 month=0 enquiries.
It annoys me so much that people see sheds on there for under 2.5k and decide that's all mine is worth because it's the same age!
It's too good to let go for what I've been offered and I can't justify having to put another 3.5k ontop towards a ST225 that's only 2 years newer.:(
Sorry forgot to ad I dropped it to 2.8k then even offered it to someone for 2.7k "my rock bottom price" and he still couldn't be bothered coming to look at it.

But on the other hand: Try telling Jo Bloggs that you don't have service history for 9 years but its still a minter...

^ this is true. If you know me you know I wouldn't touch a car without FSH unless it is an absaloute bargain.

First thing I mentioned to you when you bought it was was the service history.

If it really is a minter just keep it and enjoy it. The Focus is only a side step anyway.

Don't see people's obsession with having Fsh. Different if it's a premium expensive car or one that has strict cambelt changes included in certain mileage but it's a 11yr old 3k Mondeo that's basic to run and maintain that is chain driven. Just because someone has a stamp to say they changed a few filters and the oil means nothing towards the condition. It meant more to me that the last owner had it from 12 months old for 9 years unlike most of the others that have had 6+ owners.
I had a Focus a few years back with only a couple stamps and that sold in 24hrs lol.

Do you have a stack of receipts for work done to the car over the years? I could overlook no service history if there were invoices but no service history and no invoices and, like rybo, I'd walk.

No I have nothing but the 2 stamps from the time I have owned it.
So what would u guys say my car is worth then? 2004, 94k 12months Mot, just serviced, In great condition?
Car dealers are putting the equivalent up for around 3.2k-3.5k so I valued mine at 2.8k after dropping it from 3k but no takers. Might be because it's July and peole are skint from holidays etc.

It's only a 3k 11 year old Mondeo with decent history, without that history its just an 11 year old Mondeo and not worth 3k...

My old one's for sale on AT, 4 years since I sold it and its done an extra 60 000 miles!

No mention of the JP Exhaust in the Ad!

Maybe a little overpriced, I could be so tempted to buy it back!

You should offer 2k for it would make a nice weekend car for that price especially if the clutch has been done. Looks well kept the leather looks in great condition. How much did you sell for? As the prices of the ST220 actually went up last year for good examples due to there being so few about.
