Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Seems to be holding up fine, only been a month mind you. I assume those are things that come under extra strain as a result of the remap?
yes they are. mine has had a fuel pump, as the first one was dying the day i bought it and you might get some juddering from the fly wheel at certain rpms. mine has a judder in a very specific place. 3rd gear around 1400rpm. also the clutches are notorious for going. i'm not sure how many miles mine has done remapped but its done 112K now.

Lol I know. Got 2.6k back in the end which is fairly good. Was sad to see it go though :( now the trouble begins of finding another car. I'm looking at focus ST, Mazda MPs, S40 T5's and I've just seen how cheap u can get the Lexus Is250 for nowadays so might look into them. But will probably just get a ST225 though and map it.

was at rockingham on Saturday ^^

Mini write up:- car handled fantastic, engine temps were stable the whole day and i was thrashing it!, standard brakes held up well and the cheepo tyres i have were fine.

Did 120miles on track and used just over a full tank.
Didnt drink any oil and coolant never boiled over.

:D

Well nearly a week since I sold my 220 now and I'm officially regretting it :(
I have a silly obsession with changing my car every 12 months as I get bored easy but I'm really missing my 220 now with the leather Recaro's. Comfiest seats ever!
Test drove a Focus ST and while it's noticeably quicker to 60 it's not as good quality or nice to drive.
Might start looking at the Mk4 Mondeo's there's a nice Titanium X for sale not far from me:

Yes very hard to replace a car like that. They can't be beaten for 3k ish in terms of performance, looks and quality.
I've looked at Lexus Is250's but the manual 2.5v6 is meant to be thirsty and not very quick and glanced around but nothing catches my eye :(. All the Audi A3's and 3 series's etc offer nothing exciting for 6k threre just overpriced bland cars. Threres the Mondeo i am going to try and look at its a black 08 Titanium X similair to yours Howard for 5k with push button start which I've heard can be problematic? And are they a nicer drive than the mk3?

I considered all of those cars and similar when I replaced my ST220, but nothing in my budget really grabbed me as much as my current Mondeo.

Mine's a Titanium X Sport so it has slightly lower stiffer suspension than the non-Sport models but you don't lose much from the mk3 in terms of the way it drives. You mustn't forget it's a bigger, heavier car but the steering is still wonderfully direct and the suspension very nicely balanced, and I tend to notice it after driving many different modern cars.

Nothing problematic about the keyless start.

Find a nice well-specced 2.5T Titanium X Sport and I reckon you'll rather like it.

This is the Titanium X for sale.

Looks nice apart the crap exhaust. Unfortunately the 2.5T engine is rare and they always seem to be stupidly overpriced by dealerships comparing it to the 220. Not to mention a lot of the mk4 Mondeo's seem to be in manky colour's like that silvery green they do etc. I only want black.
Whats the ford convers+ thats on the Titanium x model?

It's a digital display in between the rev counter and speedometer. What it shows will depend on what kit you have in your car.

It will show messages, radio and music information. Mines also shows sat nav directions when I enable the built-in navigation. If you have the factory fitted USB (can also be retrofitted), it will allow you to navigate the files and folders on that using the controls on the steering wheel.

Here's a pic of mine showing a warning message (had to replace glow plugs)

It's just a chunky back box I think.

That one however is only a naturally aspirated 2.0 petrol and it's not quick at all. So probably not what you're looking for?!

The 2.5Ts do crop up, just have to be a bit patient.

Got my renewal from Direct line the other day for my ST. They want £460 for the coming year (was £430 last year). 5 minutes on moneysupermarket and I found a quote for £360.

Yeah think I paid about £340 so that is about right.

Philz0r, great photos! Good to see at least 1 person on here is driving their car properly :p
