Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Just stuck £30 in and just went out for a drive last night, just me and my wife wafting down the motorway with no destination in mind.

Was quite relaxing, we were going to have a walk along the beach but it was raining so the cruise was a good replacement

That's the great thing with fuel being cheaper. You're more likely to go for a drive for fun.

as you do

When things are ****in me off I just jump in the car and go for a cruise. Lucky for me I have some awesome roads around me.

If your still thinking of selling your 220 Rybo I would seriously reconsider because I'm regretting selling mine big time! I miss the leather Recaro's and the power delivery of the na 3.0 V6. And the understated looks of it.
I've had my Focus ST225 for a day and it's just not as good. Even though it's quicker to 60 The power surge from the Turbo just feels false and comes all at once rather than the smooth delivery of the Mondeo. And I'm attracting idiots already something I never had with the Mondeo.
Why does the 220 have to be such a good car :(

I'll never sell (as the Mrs says...). As I said before I only put it up when the sun come out and I fancied something 2 seater. Silly idea given that I have a family lol...

Still then I never replied to anyone. :p

Only problem i have is, i want to make my s14 a dedicated track car in the next couple of years and since the st220 isnt allowed to tow, i'll probably have something boring like a volvo -.-

It can be fitted but you have to cut the bumper. Sure they would be some kind of tow out there that could get around this.

Looks like my car's going to be written off.

Pondering whether to get another ST220 or move on.

Do you know of anyone who's moved onto something else and preferred it (excluding cars 2-3x more expensive)?

Edit: Annoyingly the wife needs a new car too so we're almost in a situation where neither of us has a car in an area with no public transport. Just bad timing I guess.

You will struggle to get a nice 220 now thats not priced at silly money. i just replaced mt ST220 with this Focus ST for 5k. It's more fun to throw round corners, handles better than the 220 and is noticeably quicker to 70 but not as nice a car on the motorway and its missing the leather Recaro's :(

Have you made up your mind what your gonna do imy?.

I think if it was me, i would shop about first, maybe look at things like a 530i, s60r and if i didn't like them go back and buy another st220.

I'm going to buy the wife a car first (likely a Mazda 3 2l Sport) and drive that around for a while as she doesn't need it every day for the next few months.

This should give me time to find something nice. I really don't want to buy anything in a hurry without researching properly first and I'm short on time right now.

530i is a likely option and I hadn't thought of the S60R so I'll look at that too. I probably should move away from Ford for my next car as I've been driving Ford for over a decade now but If I'm struggling then yeah another ST220.

As the wife will hopefully be getting a 5-seater, it will mean I don't have to - so I might look at a 350Z or similar also.

Mrs wanted a Mazda 3 sport (facelift 2007-2009) but every single one we went to see had some rust. What a mess up by Mazda.

I also loved the idea of a 350z with the Mrs having a car but it just doesn't work when you have a family, guaranteed there is going to be plenty of "for **** sake" moments with only 2 seats and a tiny boot. (Assuming you have kids?)

No kids yet but do plan to have some in the near-ish future so it may be now or never for a 2 seater.

We have other family (parents, etc) we need to ferry about on occasion - usually on the weekends hence the need for at least one 5-seater between us.

I also want to get her used to driving a larger car as she's coming from a 1.0 Yaris.

Saw a really nice Mazda 3 facelift yesterday on AT for £3k but had just been sold :( I will be looking out for rust as you say it's quite common.

It's amazing how many particular relatively modern cars seem to succumb to rust whilst so many don't - you tend to think of it as a notion left behind in the 80s.
