Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Does anyone know how much it costs to repair head gasket on the ST220? There is one for sale nearby for a grand, wondering if its worth buying and repairing. Always liked the look of these ST220's.

Not sure it's worth it for a prefacelift when you may as well take the money (not to mention the time) you'd spend on fixing it and buying a working one.

Hmm I'll give it a miss then, was hoping it might be a fairly straightforward couple of hundred pound job. The car does have dings and dents too, but otherwise could have made a decent cheap motor.

Cheers for the advice.

Admiral have offered me my ST220 back for £408. I think the JP exhaust alone was more than that.

Any chance of getting it to pass an MOT ever again without spending a fortune?

It's going to be a CAT C. Aside from the obvious door damage, the floor is slightly buckled as is the pillar. The front passenger seatbelt isn't pulling out and the locks probably need sorting too.

I'll jump in here as I've got a car that shares bits :)

I've got a 2012 (61 plate) S-Max Titanium X Sport, 2.2 TDCi 200PS, with a Bluefin remap taking it to about 230BHP and 500NM torque. Great family car :)

I've got the Sat Nav that appears to be used in the Mondeo, but it looks like my maps etc are out of date.

I went into the 'hidden menu' and found:

Main_VER_SW: 2012_101125
REG_VERSION: DI_SWNAVI9.3C3P22
NAV_VER_SW: unknown

Looks like its an SD card rather than a DVD.

I've read loads of conflicting reports about what updating it will do to features and functionality - suggestions I'd lose traffic announcements through TMC.

Any chance people could advise :)

I purchased the map updates for my Kuga which has the big touchscreen nav in it and that's the SD version. I ordered the 2013 updates from the dealer on "offer" for stock clearance for £70 (I think) due to the TMC loss and that would bring me up from the 2011 that came with the car.
I was quite surprised to find the 2015 update pack in the car when I picked it up (it was in for other work), so all the maps are bang up to date and the TMC seems to work too which I wasn't expecting.

The 2014 maps don't have TMC but I can't speak for the 2015. Although if the poster above is right, maybe they've re-included it! I will investigate more I think.

Thats interesting... have I just totally misunderstood that TMC would stop working then chaps?

Sounds good to me... will certainly get the update if thats the case and it is still on there.

Edit - I think I've worked it out:

http://www.ford.co.uk/OwnerServices/FordAccessories/TopSelling/TomTomSatNavMapUpdates

"Map Updates for FX and NX units do not include TMC (Traffic Message Channel) for UK roads. Please contact your Ford dealer for more information."

Looking at pictures online, mine is an MCA unit, so should be absolutely fine :) Result !

Another Edit - Looking here - http://www.navmapstore.com/product/1473/TeleAtlas_Maps_by_TomTom_SD_Card_Ford_MCA_Europe_2015 - it specifically lists that it does traffic.

Happy days :)

I was a bit surprised at first when it gave me a traffic announcement a few days after when I was going somewhere for work - I was initially disappointed about the update as that was the reason I went for the 2013 update and was set to go back in there and have a moan. I can recheck the car in a bit if required :)

Good number of options on it, and from the pictures the leather looks in decent nick, no bumper sag.

A wheel refurb would cost you around £300. At that mileage I'd want to know the state of the clutch too. If they've done the leads in the last twelve months, you might want to check the age of the coil pack - they're only about £80 though.

Check the heated seats work fully, spare elements are not easy to come by for decent money.

That's about it I think!

26-29mpg around town =.=

yea right

3 previous owners, its worth a look. 150k miles wouldn't put me off but I know some people would flip their lids.

Boozer.

You in a rush? I know a man with a 220, quite mint, low miles, decent mods whos getting a company van soon so he doesn't need his 220 anymore with already having another car. Would cost a fair bit more that £2k though to take his precious 220 away from him.

In my opinion, yes. Unless you have an irrational fixation on the blue oval, I'd look elsewhere. If you do have an irrational fixation, I'd look for something less leggy. The saloon is the one to go for IMO.

I picked up a very good deal on an E46 330i, so this perhaps colours my POV, but having viewed and driven equal examples of both cars I would never be able to say no a decent E46 over an ST220.
