Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Aviva. It was about £320. Exhaust didn't cost any extra. Excellent company to deal with and by far the cheapest for me.

Bargain!

Just goes to show that there's literally no point in comparing insurance prices with other people on the internet I suppose! :D

I made some ramps of my own out of wood. They're a shallower entry than regular metal ones and even they just went under. You'll probably have to drive onto a couple of planks of wood as well.

You need a decent Jack ;) my cheapy Halfords one couldn't get high enough either but I think my low entry Sealey Jack could probably flip the car over

Indeed, those awful photographs don't do it any favours but it's pretty much stock besides the wheels and rather bizarre choice of front number plate placement.

If you're talking about the plastic strip that the arrows are pointing to (excuse my shoddy mspaint work):

Then I should imagine they just pull off?

It's number 4:

And presumably clips in to number 5.

I'm not 100 per cent sure though - See if it pulls off perhaps.

That's not the first time I've heard of the top mounts wearing out, and on its last MOT mine had an advisory for 'slight movement in the top mount'.

I would stick a fresh MOT on it, service it, and sell it privately. You'll probably get twice the part-ex value for it.

If you find a facelift with nav, it's a bit more modern. Externally, the bumpers and grille are different and the facelift has DRLs, indicators in the mirrors, and LED brake lights. Internally it's basically what you've already mentioned and a slightly different instrument cluster. Yes, the 2.0 Ecoboost engine gets an extra 40bhp with the facelift but you can remap the prefacelift to that level anyway. There isn't a great deal of difference otherwise. I'd probably rather have a fully loaded prefacelift over a lesser-spec facelift.

The JP is no louder when cruising but it's a fair bit louder overall when accelerating etc and makes some lovely cracks and burbles. Go for that IMHO, it just seems better engineered than the Miltek.

now I have mine up at 2.9k not even one phone call :eek:it's one of the cheapest on there and also probably in far better condition than 90% for sale. My leather recaro's are like new

Back on the hunt for one of these again (finally sorted out job/pay shenanigans so can easily afford one again, woohoo !). Kind of frustrating watching various ST220's be available nearby and not being able to dive on them the past couple of months :'( Looks like a lot more of them are going for reasonable prices now (£3K - £3.5K). Just a matter of time until one drops that I'm after.

Is it me or is the solution to these two problems obvious...

I reckon you should keep it. Other than a little bit more turbo grunt I reckon the Focus will feel like a downgrade.

I swear I've never had over 26.2 mpg despite the fact I'm on the motorway for 80% of my journey to work :eek:it's currently at 25.3 lol.
What can contribute to poor mpg as even though I drive with my foot planted at all times it still should not be that bad for near all motorway driving!
I check my tyre pressure once a week and had it serviced only 10k after the last one so what else can make the mpg so bad?
Oh and it's not looking good for selling my car I've only got 4 days left of the 28 day classified and no interest in the last 2 weeks apart from a woman asking will I take 2k as she thought it would be a nice upgrade to her 2.0 Mondeo that needs replacing  it's up for 2.8k and already the cheapest 2004 for sale!

Depends on what you mean by 'driving with your foot planted at all times' - this doesn't tend to correlate with good fuel economy!

I could get pretty good economy from mine just by driving sensibly and reading the road ahead and such. No point in 'planting my foot all the time' in the heavy traffic trudge to work and back. 70mph on the motorway at a constant speed (not always mashing my foot up to 80-90mph for overtakes or whatever) would get me at least 35mpg.

Take more, better photos for your ad :p
