Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Sheesh. I feel for you :(

Alarm bells would definitely have gone off after looking at the exterior "mods" but that's not really very helpful right now I know... Not good news. What are you going to do? Get another opinion perhaps before making a decision.

Subframe bushes are almost a certain requirement on these, so let's hope that it was just that they were done by a numpty and once sorted it will drive nicely. I know when I had mine changed it felt a lot tighter to drive :).

A lot of people claim that the standard brakes are woefully inadequate and that the Focus ST brakes are a massive upgrade. Personally I only think this is necessary if you're using the car on a track. People also seem to want silly money for second hand calipers/carriers.

Initially they feel a bit spongy and not particularly confidence-inspiring but you get used to it, and the car will stop when you want it to. Decent pads, fluid, and even maybe braided hoses will improve things nicely.

Seems expensive? OEM front pads were about £45 for a set when I had mine. Not sure I'd bother with OEM discs though.

I did - to a friend of mine. It lasted well for two years, until someone decided to interface with it at speed.

What have you previous owners replaced you 220 with? I am at the point where I have been looking around but I can't find anything in the £15k price range that takes my fancy.

I replaced mine with a newer mondeo (details and thread link in sig). With the budget I had (£10k) I couldn't find anything else that worked as well for me as a package. It's a better car in most ways but I'll always be fond of the ST220. It had a charm and felt so up-together in ways that not many cars in its league can match. And the seats are the best I've ever sat in.

Do I regret moving it on? Not really. Do I miss it? Always.

Hi there

What I do not get with Ford why was the Mondeo ST not based on following:

2.3 ECO Boost with 320-370BHP.
AWD
Manual & Auto options
10mm lower suspension with 18" and 19" wheel options.

Why was the ST not the above, I've got a Mondeo Titanium AWD at the moment and even though its got balloons for tyres and a manual gear box it has huge amounts of grip due to the AWD system and won't spin the wheels even in first gear in the wet. The only problem is it is woefully underpowered. I just feel the ST should have being the above specification, would have made a fun and capable car. :)

There isn't a "new" Mondeo ST. It's an ST-Line - a non-performance trim level just like Audi S-Line, BMW M Sport, etc.

If there was a 'true' new Mondeo ST with the engine you described or maybe the 2.7 V6 Ecoboost, with equipment levels from the top trim level, I'd be all over it. Sadly though, I think I'd be one of about 7 people in the UK who would, and Ford probably know this.
