Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Just ordered some oil and a filter to change at the weekend. I decided being nearly 10 years old, it won't affect things like resale a great deal if I no longer pay a fortune for Ford to service it. £42 for some oil vs. about £150 for Ford to do it. I do most other work myself.

What does everyone else do with theirs? Service yourself or take it to a garage?

I'm also considering double-din nav units... They're so expensive though and it's tricky to find definitive information as to whether they'll fit properly..

Indeed, but I'm not sure whether one of these http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/conn...03-double-din-fascia-fitting-kit-p-11020.html or these http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/auto...-metal-double-din-fascia-adaptor-p-10348.html will fit with a double-din unit without fouling the climate panel which angles down slightly - someone else says I need to use one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250589223468?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 with the Autoleads adaptor above and then the unit fits nicely, and it seemed to in his photos.. I just don't like not being sure before I plump hundreds on a nice nav unit :p

But I really want this http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alp-inew920r-alpine-ine-w920r.html

That answers half the question I suppose. But I want the unit to fit in the fascia adaptor and the plastic surround to fit around the edges nicely without having to bodge or end up looking crap.

But your suggestion could be the way to go..

My xenons work really well, they are quite small projector lenses so modern cars with big lenses might throw a little bit further but for me they're brilliant. And much better than halogen.

2700-2800rpm at 70mph in 6th is right.

Little disappointed in this. I was expecting it to have 5 gears fairly close together and then an economy gear. Is the engine not quite loud?

Why are you disappointed? You've not even driven one yet I'm guessing?

All 6 gears are fairly close together as is usually the case. It'll do 155mph so it's not exactly strained at 70mph. It's not loud at all, the only noise you get really is tyre noise.

R220, good job. I might do that at some point. Mine isn't sagging as much as yours but you can still shift it with your hands. Ford  :p

It's not a low down torque monster though. It's perfectly refined and relaxed. Cars of its nature tend to have quite close-together gear ratios anyway and it accelerates quite nicely from 70mph in 6th as a result. It's a good blend of economy and acceleration

Listened to loads of videos last night of Milltek,JP,Blueflame exhausts and I just don't like any of them. The noise just doesn't suit the car imo.

I'm glad it's not just me who thinks this!!! The videos people put online are crap though, I don't want to know what it sounds like if the camera is 6 inches from the tailpipe, this will misrepresent it completely

Also been looking at facelift rear lights with the chrome strip, do these fit 2004 cars? Is the light bulb essembly the same? Can you remove the chrome strip and replace with blue?

As far as I know, the 2005 (or is it 2006?) facelift rear lights don't have reflectors in the clusters, so if you swap them you'd also need to find the rear plastic bumper inserts with the reflectors in, if that makes sense.

Music is important ;)

Rybo I posted some crap on the previous page of this thread about double din stuff and linked to some bits you'll need in addition to a wiring adaptor.

I changed the oil and filter on mine today, nice and simple as it should be, I don't know why people on forums complain about having to remove the undertray and whatnot?! Numpties. Not that it has much of an under-tray. Or at least, mine doesn't.

I wouldn't put a hose or pressure washer anywhere near my engine bay. It doesn't take much to just use rags and degreaser :)

20k miles at 20mpg?Are you sure? That's a lot of short distance driving!

Don't bother with a K&N, modify the standard air box by fitting the cold air pipe to the bottom left of the air box unit which was deleted when they fitted the 6 speed gearbox. This is the most efficient intake method as has been pretty much proven. The forums love their intake mods but they don't help really.
