*****Who wants a $1000 INTEL CPU FREE? - COMPETITION TIME!!*****

I think it depends on what the poster is trying to do.

With your one, there is no reason why you could not be in the pic. With the one on that balloon thing, if someone was in it then they would be in serious problems.

That said, there are quite a few that they could have been in.

This is not a photoshop, picture here showing projector.

I actually ran the battery on my car flat doing this (tip: either run your car whilst using an inverter to power a very power hungry projector or do not park it at the bottom of a hill!), it would have been posted before midnight if not for waiting over 2 hours for the AA to turn up :(

Lol. A picture of a desktop projector on the floor of a carpark doesnt prove that isnt photoshop. There is no way a projector that size can put out that image quality, size and intensity especially in an environment like that with so much ambient light. Obvious fake is obvious :D

Your car battery wouldnt even strike the lamp of a projector big enough to do that, let alone the 2 that you would want to have double stacked to do it. Not to mention there is no light coming from the lens of your "projector" ;)

Good job my friend took pictures of me setting it up then, isn't it :)

I do find it unfortunate that someone would make a post so definitively discrediting someone's work when they could not be more wrong.

To address some of your concerns;

  • Intensity is a non-point, the picture is a long exposure (5 sec).
  • Car battery can EASILY light up the projector with the aid of an inverter - I can provide video proof of this, and of the projector pulling ~280w - well within the capabilities of a car battery and inverter
  • There is no light visible from the projector because the lens is not visible by the camera?

And for your viewing pleasure, here are some other shots in other locations, and one even showing the projector lighting up at the final location :)

Nice work that Mike :) Hope it counts for you fella.

Thanks, so do I after the polava last night turned out to be. I was hit with initial bad luck as the inverter plugged into the cigarette lighter socket could not power the projector, adding a decent ground fixed this issue, but this quickly blew the fuse for the cig lighter socket on the car.

A trundle back home for some old amp wiring, and we were good to go - inverter wired straight to the battery and it worked, but the first few locations just weren't working out properly.

100 miles of looking for locations later (Which is no small feat on an Island ~27x13 miles) we found the perfect location, but had troubles getting the projector to display high enough and square as well as getting the right photo to capture it (I'm not photographer, I'm afraid - I only own a tripod because of some free vouchers I was given).

Then the flat battery to top it all off. All good fun, though.

As good as the entry is, agreed that its after the cut-off point.

I could have taken a photo last week, but that doesn't mean I could submit the entry this morning if I had forgotten to do it previously.

Missing out on the deadline because you wanted to do your idea at the 11th hour is the risk you take for not wanting to give others ideas.

At the end of the day, its Gibbo's choice though so no point debating it tbh.

Good luck everyone!

'Could be images of you holding the logos, placing the logos in a strange place basically something that advertises Intel/OcUK and it looks cool'

Yes, nothing that says you MUST be in the picture, but I bet 90% of submissions are from members who aint even in the picture.

Well, least we're not a vain bunch of people I suppose...

Pretty hard to take a photo of yourself, no?

Exactly, no 30 second wonder here

That's the thing with the photoshop ones, not a lot of effort needs to go in to them as they can be pictures taken from the net or ones of things you've already done. I had to go around logging in 90 (93 to be exact) PCs to take mine! Sod if im in it or not! (though it wouldn't have been too difficult for me to have been in it)

I just wish I'd been able to fly a banner behind my model airplane! Still, m ay the best pic win!

Speaking of which, any idea how long it will take to judge the entries and pick a winner? I don't think I've got the CPU, but may be in with a shot of an SSD, fingers crossed. And now its after the 23rd, can you tell us what the CPU actually is now? I've not been following CPUs too much recently, apart from Bulldozer :x
