Not really. It's the dreamers and complain artists that waste a lot of our time.
People complain, it's the way some people are, have you forgotten that we live in England? It is British to complain.
I think you need to address your attitude towards OcUK to be honest. Remember this is our forum for our site that we allow you (members) to post on free of charge and participate in competitions free of charge.
Have an opinion isn't wrong, regardless of if it's negative or not. Expressing said opinion in an adult manner also isn't a bad attitude, if you don't like an opinion, just move along. Additionally, it's all well and good that OcUK don't charge people to use the forum, however I suspect if they did charge, they'd have a significantly less amount of users, it is not a normal situation for webforums to charge people for their use.

But some how this is unfair? Get a grip.

Some people just really dislike social networking websites, and this is how free speech works, you won't like everything everyone has to say.

I'd be happy to waste five minutes signing up to twitter and facebook, as I've spent longer than that reading through this thread. I'm not entering, as I probably can't write my name in photoshop and don't own a camera. Blurry phone image of monochrome logos stuck to a bicycle probably isn't going to do it somehow.
I think less people would have an issue if it was facebook or twitter, rather than both, which I think is understandable, I see no harm in people expressing this.

Some of the posters in this thread have been out of line in the anti-twitter rage. However, it's a public forum. People will say stupid things. OcUK staff should abstain from this as it looks staggeringly unprofessional. These forums are directly tied to your store, so if you have staff members mocking customers on them it looks terrible.
I do agree that some have been getting a bit carried away, but yeah it's very important for OcUK staff to maintain a professional aspect to their conduct, it doesn't look so bad for forum members to have a moan, but definitely it looks terriblely unprofessional for staff to mock forums users (customers).

edit: I thought I'd append the posts which I believe are inappropriate. Turns out they're all by Nath. The last time I disagreed with him I was banned for being argumentative.

Seconded on both points, especially the second unfortunately.

Facebook =tick
Twitter =have not signed up yet, will do it as soon as =tick

I might be stuck on original ideas, hhhmmm this one could take a while, I am not really the creative type but for a $1000 CPU I think I need to give it a go:)

The OP would imply that you'd still be required to provide the ability for a member of the ocuk staff to check on twitter or facebook, so you'd still need an account?

Just to Clarify, it says:

So am I right in guessing, put your Facebook status as "#OverclockersUK #Intel Competition entry", and a link to this thread, and a link to your photo? And post that in this thread?

And then the same as on Twitter?

It's abit confusing at the mo!

EDIT: The # in the status makes sense for Twitter, but you realise it won't do anything on facebook? You have to put a @ sign in front like @OverclockersUk etc.

If anyone can clear this up it's appreciated ;)

Well that contradicts the OP, so which is it?

read the fine print gents - no purchase required etc

read the fine print.

'kinell. How many whingers are there here!

I'm thinking up my entry currently...

Maybe the problem is that with the CPU it is unreleased yet. So people don't have a clue what it actually is! If the prize was (for example) an SLI pair of Gainward GTX 580 3GB Phantoms they'd be weeing themselves with excitement as they know how good they are!

agree with you there mate, in response to not knowing what the cpu is, NDA is a cruel mistress :p

it states in the op that it is a $1000 cpu - this suggests an Extreme Edition - the best kind of CPU

gibbo states that it is the successor to the 980X, cant say more than that but do the math

perhaps let me google that for you? ;)

jeez does anyone read other posts or is it just keyboard warrioring all over the place?

Don't even need to leave the forums... http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18207574 ;)

Been playing around with a lovely intel Extreme CPU today.

Had to mash out the specs for the sake of NDA but it certainly looks rather special :D

What's with the complaining?

Although my creativity skills haven't been tested in a few years, I might have a crack at this one. It's a great opportunity, so why not?

What people need to understand is that OCUK are a business. Businesses exist to profit from providing a service. To get customers through the door, OCUK need to advertise, as does any company. There are many companies that charge a bucketload for a crap service, but in my opinion, OCUK are definitely not one of them. Facebook and Twitter are probably the largest social networking sites on the internet. If OCUK advertise here, they will gain massive exposure, and why not, it's free! OCUK offer competitive prices and, just as importantly, great service before and after the checkout. It is this sort of company that deserves more publicity. Don't want a Facebook or Twitter account? Not a problem, but you could potentially win something worth £1000 for a few hours work. I don't know about anyone else, but firstly, I don't earn £250-£500 an hour and secondly, it would be a nice excuse to upgrade from my aging AMD X2 6000+ (nothing against AMD)!

The more people who exclude themselves, expecting something for nothing and whine about Facebook and Twitter will mean I have a higher chance of winning! OCUK are cool, so spread the word!
