why all the hate for hs2?

Honestly this amount of incompetence is criminal and needs to be punished, until these useless bell ends are held accountable they'll simply continue with this. Find a solution to the 4 year cycle, thus ditching the kick-the-can-down-the-road mentality.

Frequent and regular audits from top to bottom, by independent third companies.

And frequent quality reviews of all major projects during their development, scrapping anyone who doesn't deliver what they are paid to, on time, and in good order.

context is everything - meta abandonning offices in london, it's/London's celebrity status declining, commercial property price drop ...
.. so shipping people quickly into london, as hs2 aspires, is less useful.
The commercial property issue and remote working issue is not unique to London or the UK.

Ffs what a shambles.
What about the Nottingham part has that been cancelled too or is that still going ahead?
Am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there has been any news about that being cancelled, still due to be a station at East Midlands Parkway (with trains potentially running on to Nottingham and Derby on existing tracks). There hasn't been a plan to have the line go through the actual centre of Nottingham for long time though, and the rest of the Eastern Branch going up to Leeds etc was cancelled a couple of years ago.

Should have started building it from the north down, not the other way.

Guaranteed the whole thing would have been built then.

This government is beyond a joke over the last 18 months or so.

I am told the PM has now taken the decision to shelve the Manchester leg of HS2. Confirmation, and detail of the re-allocation of funds to other transport projects in the north, will presumably come very soonConfirmation, and detail of the re-allocation of funds to other transport projects in the north, will presumably come very soon.

New bus service for the North confirmed!
