I was single last year as i have had girlfriend after girlfriend for 4 years or so and it was making me feel worse rather than better. After my break and being a gooseberry for the year i am back in the dating game. Asking out girls left right and centre.

I'm well interesting, and as a result have loads of friends, mainly females ones.

Most have told me though, that because I am such a nice guy, most women would rather have me as a friend, as getting into a relationship would mean the likelihood of us splitting up in the future, and then them losing such a nice guy as a friend, lol.

Best line was "Why can't more men be like you? That way it wouldn't be a risk dating them as they aren't as rare as they currently are." pfffft, haha!

See, I see that slightly differently. What they mean is you're dependable if they have an emergency, will comfort them if they're sad and give them an ego boost when they need one. You're like a safety blanket.

I'm not implying you're boring by the way, but maybe you're just not exciting enough for them. Hell, I've planted myself in friend zones like that myself, so I'm not trying to come across all high and mighty.

I'm very fun, funny, and usually the life of the party, and not fugly at all

And these aren't women giving reasons for turning me down, this is advise from close female friends, ranging from 5-10 years length of friendship.

The biggest issues I have at the moment is mainly down to girls reckoning they have some right to be stupidly picky (possibly down to the fault of rom-coms creating unrealistic expectations).

I'm romantic, thoughtful, kind, fun, intelligent, all that jazz, the only box I don't seem to tick is the 'has a high paying job', and I'd like to think that most women aren't that shallow.

I meet a fair amount of women who I get on with great, and they get a crush on me, but it's always ones I'm not attracted to, so I guess it's some sort annoying karma type thing, haha.

I had a girl tell me recently that she was very attracted to me and felt a very close connection to me but that we shouldn't take things further as she couldn't see it ever working and that she wouldn't want to end up as nothing, so we should stay friends.

She does live 300 miles away and is 5 years older than me, so maybe she had a point in this instance ..

I think it's a combination of general modern day shallowness and the instinctual need to have security in life.

It's not like a specific "Oh, you don't earn £40k and have your own place, I don't want to be with you.", more a "You aren't financially secure enough for me to want as anything other than a friend." on a subconscious level... or something.

I agree with you, but i find that it mostly applies now that i live down in london where girls seem to be tools.
