Why do people act like this?

Thats just nonsense

Thats all well and good, but how many people have you killed

I'm really sorry OcUK.
I'm still very cut up about this event, and very disheartened. I know that you've all been trying your hardest, and been very helpful with advice and support etc. But I cannot shake the paranoia of seeing them again. I know that first of all, the chance of seeing them in Harrow is not high, but if it's the place they hang around, then it's not exactly low. Secondly, if I see them, there's a chance that they won't see me. If they see me, there's a chance they won't recognise me. If they recognise me, they might not do anything, they might shout out some abuse or they might actually come up to me.

So being an avid mathematician, I can see the chances of being bothered by the same people are extremely low. Then why can I not shake off this paranoia, 2 days after the event in question?

Sorry to do this, I hate my post being on the bottom of the previous page :(

Ok thanks, yes this is the first time. I got on the bus today and I was going in the opposite direction, and until I was actually outside, I'm not going to lie, I was a little cautious.

I'm acting like a pussy, I know, but I can vent here;

Tell you what... from my experience growing up, I don't know if it you could call it paranoia, but I always watched my back at all times while walking i.e. listening, looking at shadows to see if anyone's following, looking back from time to time etc. That's how I lived pretty much my entire life until I moved here to the UK where It feels (and probably is) 100x safer.. I tell a lot of people here that they don't understand how lucky they are for living such lovely lives compared to what I've been through, so I never really complain about the crime rates here (which is pretty low), what I do complain about however, is exactly what you've told me, the lack of respect and morals...

One of the expriences I've had was when I was asleep, there was a gunfight that started right outside our house and a bullet went through my window, luckily I never got shot. I've also been threatened to get shot by a shotgun right on the face by a security guard at school, I saw him load the shotgun and cocked it right infront of me and had his finger on the trigger :o, so I had to do pretty much cooperate. I thought that was quite innappropriate for a Security guard to do to a Student.. but oh well, anything goes there. There's loads of others that I'm not going to mention.

Anyways, as I grew up, I had to adapt to the everyday things that happen over there i.e. judging a situation and knowing what to do.

My mum was also traumatised when she one of her worst encounters...
She got held up by 3 guys on bikes in the middle of the road while she was on her moped.. 2 of them had knives and the other guy had a gun, luckily they were only after her money.. She was traumatised for a few days after that... so maybe same will happen to you, you'll be fine in a few days but will be a bit more cautious

Thanks mate, you've been really helpful the whole way through the thread. Sorry to hear about your mum :(
I don't exactly watch my back, but whenever I'm using my phone, I always cover it it with as much of my hand as possible. Another thing I do is to only keep maximum of £10 in my pocket. The rest of the money is somewhere else, usually deep in my sock, and so if I want to buy something, I go into a changing room in a clothes shop to get my money. It's nowhere near as bad as the experiences you and others have had. I feel a bit selfish that people have gone through much worse, yet I'm worried about my own situation. Hopefully that'll go away in the next few days, like you say :)

You don't even try any more :(

I remember when you were a respectable troll. What has happened?

I get a feeling you get when you try to explain something to a kid, and he responds, "but your face", or in this case lol/pictures of nonsense.

Its really because they know im right, cannot defeat my pure computer logic and resort to nonsense.

I remember i posted some puzzle to do with the speed of light, and like 10 people just raged and insulted me.

I don't think people take the **** out of you because you're right, they do it because you're either totally deluded about how you'd actually act when placed in certain situations or really need to seek urgent psychological attention. The majority probably think the former. Oh and just posting it to provoke a response, obviously.

cannot defeat my pure computer logic

Brilliant.

You'll get over it fairly quickly OP. I've been in a few barneys like that and it's normal to have that sense of paranoia afterwards. I've seen the other parties since and for the most part, none have recognised me, or if they did, they pretended not to. It all comes down to experience and learning how to avoid such situations.

If people are loud in a film I will yell across the cinema and tell them to STFU. Won't think twice about it.

They are chancers, 9/10 times they will shout amongst themselves or something directly back but the second STFU usually keeps them quiet.

The only physical confrontation I had in a cinema was when I was younger and a load of towny scum were chucking food at me/people. They were in the row behind so I shook up a bottle of fizzy drink and coated them all.

They went and complained, then got kicked out themselves.

I would gladly work security in a cinema just to drag scum like the ones in the OP out into the street.

This has only happened to me once in the cinema 20 minutes in this couple were basically just shouting and literally laughing loudly none stop since the start(they were definitely on something), i just walked out and asked for my money back. THey were reluctant but after they saw the evidence they did.

But i'll be honest, i wish i said something most people would just walk away.
So don't feel bad! You did a good thing.
Some of these kids really just need beating them selves...

Although over the recent years i have been sick of all these t**ts and have spoken up and usually they shut up(in general)
To an extent you have to stick up for yourself. And i would encourage more people to do so tbh..

Two blacklines is known to be an idiot and was recommending palm strikes earlier in the thread (and let us not forget why hes not welcome in Motors any longer), but a broken clock is right twice a day. Take up boxing, kick boxing or MMA, not some pathetic mcdojo martial art. The only "martial art" worth knowing for street self defence is Krav Maga, all the others are glorified ballet or only useful in combat sports.

Karate is rubbish, but its not because of the "lack of room outside".

I suggested krav in motors and you told me that im wrong and now your suggesting...krav.

A palm strike is a more effective strike than a fist. Didnt they teach you that at KM ?

An elbow is even better but harder to pull off.

And i meant "outside the dojo". He was put up against a wall and punched, there would be no room for a swinging roundkick or whatever tripe they teach you at karate.

Seriously other than your advice about going to krav (which I already suggested in a broader fashion), everyones advice to "run away" will only mean he will get picked on more in the future.

I've always wanted to ask and this random 6 page thread of stuff seems as good a place as any.

twoblacklines, what is 'Smiley Luxury Play'?

Congratulations, you just did what 95% of people never do, and stood up for yourself to a group of bullies... that takes real balls, and I genuinely mean that.

Actually, I forgot to chuck that one in, too - props to you, Anant, even though you got a slap for it you're a better person for having made a stand.
