Why does grated cheese taste better?

It's got to be to do with the surface area IMO. More cheese scent to the nose and more cheese flavour to the tastebuds would explain it quite nicely. :)
Although when I'm having cheese on toast I do prefer huge slabs that look like they've broken off the Ross Ice Shelf adorning the top of the toast.

Grated > Sliced
Coke > Pepsi (unless there is enough alcoholic mixer in it to hide the tast, then it doesn't matter)
Chunky > Crinkle Cut or Straight Cut

Back to the cheese - how come if I make a grated cheese sandwich I always end up using double the amount of cheese that I would use if I had sliced it?

All you people grating it...

A great big man sized chunk is what cheese is all about. The stronger in taste the better, none of this girly grating lark.

From personal experience I would say it's to do wth the fact that Cheese is smelly and so grating it is smellier. From this we can conclude Edam is ghey.

follow me....

slice some cheese and make a sandwich. now grate some cheese (from the same block, i hasten to add) and make another sandwich. use marg or butter if you must.

why is it that the grated one tastes on average 47x better than the non-grated one? i fear i've stumbled on a scientific anomaly that will baffle scientists for at least 13 minutes.

it doesn't.

yes

realy.

It's also why triangular sandwiches taste better. The cut travels along a longer line so there's more metal transfer than with square sandwiches!

Triangle sandwhiches do not taste better. They suck. Full, manly, uncut sandwhiches for the win. Preferrably with first the crusts eaten, and then the sides progressively until there's a tasty morself left of the centre.

Nah real men use knives to prepare their food! Would you tuck into an un-butchered cow?! Knives are part of the manly eating experiance!
