Why GPU prices are NOT likely to drop significantly EVER!

I somewhat agree @Chuk_Chuk - even though the consoles are not exactly cheap (few hundred quid, even as a birthday/xmas gift its quite a lot for regular families to drop on one) and the games are quite steep, the demographic for enthusiasts on pc tends to be from the older generation gamers. Its not covering all the base, but I think its fairly accurate. I remember when I went to university most friends had weaker setups than I did and didn't mind just above entry spec as they couldn't afford a meaty build or had pre-builds. Even when they got good jobs later on in life they never spent a lot on a PC tbf.
For 8 zen 2 cores, 40/56CU's of graphics, 16gb GDDR6, 1tb nvme, a blu Ray player, case, psu and a controller the consoles represent good VFM and considering you can't even buy a 40CU GPU for that price just shows what a rip off Gpus are.

Yes GPU's as a standalone component are a rip off, like I said most of the folk I know that I gamed with (that still play PC games now) would be on budget builds when compared to people on this forum. Their entire setup would cost the same as one or two components here, so the steam survey type data holds some weight when it comes to the reality of what specs people use when they play games.

Because Nvidia and AMD keep increasing RRP which no one follows anyway and the idiots defends them like their life depends on it. Like what's right about a 3080 retailing for £800

Surely 4000 series will be in short supply while everyone sells their 3000 GPU's before launch to get one? Also the faster GPU's will have a higher hash rate so another mining boom? I'm not so sure if waiting for 4000 series is the answer.

If I see a bargain GPU, I'm going to buy it. I don't care what new and shiny is around the corner. I've learnt that the hard way.

Also those that sold 2080Ti's to get money back before the 30 series sold up when a few weeks months after the prices people were paying meant they could have got double the money had they not been so quick.
Well, yes (I only sold my 1060 at the wrong time, with no actual plan to buy something so just annoyed that I didn't wait a while to sell).

HOWEVER, if sellers were psychic they'd also have won the lotto!

It sucks but just an observation as quite a few on here and contacts IRL did it then sobbed as they had either a pos card for a while or had to pay over the odds to get a 30 series.. just backfired. The following punch to the nether region was the ensuing hysteria for ANY card so they ended up going back to almost original prices anyway.

No excuses next time! :D

End of 2022 for 4000 series by some accounts, 3000 super are coming first, end of 2021/early 2022.
More likely end or middle of 2023. 2022 is the refresh of ampere cards to supers or whatever they will call them this time.

By then new bitcoin craze as they always do now.. 2017.. 2020.. Mining years and no cards.. 2023 next.. Repeat now every new generation comes out.. So good luck to all getting the 4000 or 7000 series gpus then.
