Why is AMD quiet about black screens on 290x?

get refund and buy a 780 ti. (I bet that was your plan)

It's a real shame tbh I've been with nvidia since my fx5200 and had a 680gtx before this but thought I'd give amd ago as the 290x is a great price + performance card but it's been a nightmare.

Never have I seen my pc be so unstable, just constant hardlocks, blackscreen , driver issues the lot.

Got to the point where I was question my own pc so I tried it in a mates and bam it blacked screen quicker than it did in my pc lol

Its probably a driver issue, i would wait and see. If its not and it turns out to be a massive problem with a large amount of cards they'll probably refund you.

past 7 days (or 14 with some retailers) they won't refund you, the only thing they'll do is replace the card IF it is deemed to be faulty - if it's a software issue you won't get one at all

I've just discovered my 290 will black screen at stock clocks, just had it twice in BF4, but only when not running afterburner and my custom fan profile, even though temps stay under the 94c mark :(

Gutted.

They do have a higher voltage than necessary giving plenty of leeway (you can significantly undervolt most cpus at stock). Most people overclock with a shade over what appears stable.
