Why is AMD quiet about black screens on 290x?

I was apparently too late to DSR, i though it was 30 days, but i'm told 7. Plus there was the matter of my BF4 key.

14 days here at Overclockers 7 days elsewhere for DSR. I can send mine back under DSR I am tempted, even though it seems there is the odd none sapphire ones doing it there seems to be a good few more with sapphire getting the black screen.

I'm assuming the amd bronze/silver tickets don't matter even under DSR seen as they aren't actually part of the product, they are just a limited freebie?

Even if he was wrong about that, we still have the issue of the BF4 key. Anyway, hopefully the RMA process shows a problem, i get a.) a replacement card or b.) they are happy to issue a credit note or refund and i get a TI.

If this is a hardware issue it must be quite a big part of the initial shipment.

Yeah you've got 14 days here no two ways about it, its plastered all over the main page, I can understand about the BF4 key seen as its packaged with the product, if its faulty an item of equal performance/value is your rights, so a swap for another card.

I'm really not sure what to do if the card is faulty, i.e. get another, or get a TI. I am bashing no one, just saying, having owned NVIDIA every generation since the Radeon 9800, this is officially the poorest experience with a card i've ever had.

No problem, would help to know the issue was fixed by doing that. But how I've just written, did also crash at those settings :/

Well that does help, as it eliminates volts as such as being the issue. Not totally though, as I understand it self volts to a degree? it could well be a power delivery failure, as it isnt hard crashing but instead just crashing the display, so sounds feasible that power is dropping from the DVI/HDMI/DP.

Law is 7 days from the date you received it under DSR, but companies can offer more if they so choose. DSR generally doesn't apply to things like software unless still wrapped which makes the BF4 with a card a little bit odd and how you deal with the whole package.

I just checked, if it's faulty, you have 4 weeks by law from the purchase date to return it for a refund, after that you have to go down the path of repair or replacement - thing to remember is that your contract is always with the retailer, so don't let them fob you off on having to send it to the manufacturer, in the first six months it is also assumed that the fault is with the product and the onus is on them to prove otherwise
you should also get a refund for the return postage of a faulty item
if you paid by credit card you can also pursue them for a refund (keep copies of any emails and the tracking for the return postage as they'll ask for at least some evidence - often they will actually refund you straight away but then you'll get a letter asking for extra info)

if they get shirty about the game key then you might just have to tell them what your in game serial is so they can get it revoked and you'd have to buy another BF4 key from somewhere
