Why is AMD quiet about black screens on 290x?

For sure downlclocking didn't work but down volting isn't something I have seen tried yet.

I have not had the problem and I quite like my cards at 1.375volts anyway.:D

I don't think my cards have spent any time at stock clocks either apart from when I first booted them up.:D

On a more serious note, does anyone think this problem is linked to certain hardware setups in the same way there was a problem with the HD 7970s and X58/79 setups for a while.

Or even is just happening on one brand? I see Sapphire being mentioned a lot.

I've not experienced any problems on my HIS 290x

Right. I'm going to to be the guinea pig. I've boxed mine up, i will be returning it to overclockers tomorrow.
I will keep you guys updated with how this progresses.

Shame it's come to this, but it will be good data.

Argh.

The Guinea pig would have flashed it first and tried down volting. No data will come from another GPU except that you get an issue free card or you get a card with the same issue. If no one who is having issues is prepared to under volt the card or try other things, nobody will have a clue what the issue is related to.

Oh well, someone shouldn't have to be trying this stuff anyways and hope your next card will work ok :)

Did you return it under RMA or the DSR rules?

For the guy suggesting certain setups could be the cause, it's not I have an amd fx8320 system and an i5 2500k system one has a gigabyte motherboard other has an asus board both will black screen with my card.

My card is sapphire, I wonder how many are having this with NONE sapphire cards?

Mine are Asus and so far I have not had the problem.

I was apparently too late to DSR, i though it was 30 days, but i'm told 7. Plus there was the matter of my BF4 key.

Just to clarify, i will be going through the RMA process - so i will report back with what Overclockers say. Not decided on if i'll keep the card if there is a fault yet, going to sleep on it. Either way i will let you all know if they deem the card faulty. I presume i'm allowed to.
